This past week I installed euro taillights with sequentail turn signals. I took some pics along the way, the lighting isn't the greatest on some.

I backed the Z up on ramps to make it eazier to get to.

The old tail lights.

The goodies....I got the taillights from Mid America and the lampholders ('87 Camaro back-up) from Auto Zone.

The licence plate removed and the back-up light tucked inside.

The old lights removed. A helpful tip for this is to take a small file and round the tab corners that hold the back-up light on. Doing this will save your arms from lots of scratches and let you reach in farther.

I like it. But I like my LED lights more right now. I like the sequental look reminds me of the old Cougers and T-Birds. Great install

So, is it wired so the yellows blink, and the reds don't? That would seem to be the reason they are used in Europe, but it seems like it would be a complicated wiring job to get it to work right.

It's fairly straight forward. Just got to make sure you do the wiring properly.
And the amber blinks for turn and hazards only, while the red is for brake lights only.
I wish GM had made all ZR-1's with these lamps. But then the rest of the C4 crowd would be all over them like the ZR1 wheels :-({|=

I think Ecklers and Corvette Central carry them (and probably others), though I don't think they have the sequential functionality.

I had no kit to work from. I got the lights from Mid-America Motorworks as they had the best price. The sequencers came from WebElectric Products along with a Daytime Running light module for the front turnlights. You will need light sockets for the amber lights. I got mine from Auto Zone online(87 Camaro back-up light).

Is it possible to install the Euro kit without cutting or splicing into any wires?I dont want to cut anything in my car,if so might just get an extraharness for the rear.

you could search for some connectors the plug into your sockets.. but our style might be tough to come by

What about those ZR-1 Roll pan copy kits you always see on Ebay are they the same style?

Not a bad Idea GC...
Although I THINK the connectors that would interface into the harness for those are different, but I don't have first hand experience

I think the kits from Ecklers and Corvette Central either come with, or have an optional extra, kit that's supposed to make it a plug in operation but I haven't installed either so can't say for sure.

If that was the case thats the option I would use as notbody really wants to splice into their harness unless they have too..

Buy another rear harness to cut into?
Thats what Im thinking.Does the rear harness have a plug that plugs into the main harness?Ive always liked the look of the Euro lights and would like to buy a set while you can but Id hate to spend $400+ and then not be able to use them.Cutting wires isnt an option.

Not sure Jeff I would think so but I have never pulled a rear end clip on a C4 before but im sure somebody here has.

here's the instrustions that come with the Eckler's wiring harness
http://www.ecklers.com/assets/pdf/40372.pdf?
and here is page for the harness it's self
http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?pf_id=40372&dept_id=1499
Eckler's harness is not a plug-in and you'll have to cut or unplug the white wire in underdash modification. This is so the hazard lamps flash thru the amber lamps now instead of the red lamps. I made my wiring harness and have far less than that price. Also with doing the conversion on a ZR-1 you have to tie into the high level stoplight and to do this you have to tie into that harness in the halo(passenger side) or do what I did and tap into the brake applied input on the EBTCM(electronic brake and traction control module) behind the driver's seat.
