What do you think of it? Can you pull a tranny with one? Exhaust removal? etc...Comments?

=Jeff= has one, and I believe that you can do all of that. I think biggest problem is setting it up on the lift without the wheels.

My brother has a Kwik Lift and we have restored two Triumphs (TR6 and TR3) using it...so yes you can drop a tranny, replace an exhaust and pull an engine if you want... lifting car off of its wheels is a pain, but the advantage of the Kwik Lift is the clear area under the car unlike a sissor lift which generally blocks the area off

I have a Kwik Lift, like it a lot, get a lot of use out of it.
Have done headers, shifter, rear end gears, all routine maintainence from under the lift with all kinds of room to work. Took some measurements, when lift is up bottom of rear tires 18 inches off floor, bottom of front tire 20 inches up, bottom of tranny 25 inches off floor. Park ZR-1 on it in the down position spring summer and fall, in the up position during winter it keeps the snow and water falling off my wifes car away from my z.

I picked one up last year. It works great for me in detailing the car. I have 2 center bridges so I can remove all 4 wheels at once. Lifts the car high enough to work like a gentleman. When it is in the down position you can just park the car on top of it.

Yes I Have one, not sure how I made it as long as I did without it
the Kwiklift brings the bottom of the tires 20" off the floor, perfect for working on underneath, exhaust is easy to swap, trans will come out with no real issues, I have even swapped out the rear diff on my 89 on the lift.
I only have on center bridge and I am borrowing a second center bridge, I definately recommend the 2 bridges, I am also thinking of the casters for moving the car once on it. I would have done a full lift mbut my garage it tight and the posts would keep access from the other car in my 2 car garage.
here is a Picture with my lift in use
http://vettextc.jiminees.com/ZR-1/9-1-2007/images/100_7234.jpg
It also allows for storage underneath when necessary

Are you doing a cluth/flywheel?

Jack stands and a floor jack are what i used for out/in for the tranny.....have to use a little more muscle that way, but i got it done with know issues! Have fun with the C beam brother....the rest is a cake walk on jack stands, but that lift sure does look nice for next time!

I almost bought one a few years ago and wish I did. Working on the rear suspension and diff yesterday and kept hitting my head and back on stuff sucks. The shipping was going to be $250 to Hawaii at the time. Prefer to have a real lift but the low garage ceiling does not allow so this would be perfect. I'll wait to see where my final destination is after my retirement later this year.

I know what you are talking about. My Z is sitting on jack stands (front) with front tires off and rear tires up on blocks at the moment which is not all that easy to do. I do not have overhead space to really take advantage stacking two cars on a four post hydraulic lift. I do have enough overhead to raise the hood while the Z is a bit over 20 inches off the deck.

Yeah, I'm tired of struggling on my back and even with my low profile bone creeper it really sucks with the amount of work I do under the Z.

That is why I am getting that head creeper also. I can do all sorts of things under the Z on jack stands and rear tires on blocks but it is just a mess with the jack stands, blocks, tools and parts in the way every time I try to roll over with a socket wrench
The stands on KwikLift are further to front and rear and I figure the wheel rails (Kwiklift) will be nice to put tools and parts on off the floor
Stuart (Kwiklift) called me back and it is a done deal
I bought a KwikLift first, before the 4 post. KwikLift was really great. Safe & easy to use, just the right height. I sold it to my neighbor & he loves it too.

If the 4 post won't fit then the Kwik Lift is the answer. I have always wanted a 4 post but garage ceiling height won't allow it so I ordered the Kwik Lift a couple of years ago. It has nothing to do with cash....

I got about the same deal you got since I mentioned that to Stuart at Kwiklift :handshak:
My KwikLift will arrive next week with two center lift bridges
I will have to push my Z onto Kwiklift since it is now on jack stands (front) and tires on wood blocks (rear). I will put wheels back on front and push the Z forward up the ramp and then use the center bridges to remove the front wheels one more time for C5 Z06 brake installation.
I have SW headers/exhaust (I will have to make up some nifty aluminum hangers), C4 Beam plates from ZF Doc and other stuff to install underneath ;)
This will be a lot of fun with the KwikLift ramps and the new creeper with adjustable head rest. I may just sleep under the Z for a while :sleepy1:

Kwiklift will be here this week and my only issue is getting the Z from jack stands onto Kwiklift
I will put the front wheels back on the Z and lower the rear wheels back onto the concrete from the wood blocks. Three of us will push the Z out of the garage, install Kwiklift, Turn the Z around, and.............I have not figured out how three of us can push the Z up onto Kwiklift :happy1:
I could push the Z with another vehicle but where do you push on the Z

That will work...thanks....I can connect the come-a-long to one of the stands (maybe with a chain) on the high side and pull the Z up......If I run out of length, I can just block the Z on the Kwiklift and reset the chain

I don't think 3 guys will be able to push the Z onto the lift. It is a pretty sharp angle. I had to put the non-slip tape on just so my tires wouldn't slip on the lift. Why not just drive it on??? Better then a come-along. Good luck with your choice - you will really like the lift. Be sure to get the tires centered on the ramps or you will have a heck of time trying to find places to put jacks when it comes to take the tires off.

I will put front wheels back on temporarily (off for C5 Z06 brakes) to get er up on the Kwiklift.
How do the chocks work? Can you put the two chocks anywhere on the ramp or are there slots for the chocks?
Once chocks are positioned on the ramp, I assume they will not slip at all?
I see several guys park on the slanted ramps. I assume you drive up on ramp and just set parking brake? Then prolly get out and set chocks?

Chocks go anywhere. when i park inclined, I set the brake, leave it in gear and set the chocks behind the rear wheels..
no issues in the 5 years I have had my lift

Use a come-a-long
Got the Kwiklift (RED) ........just got done setting it up :dancing
I used a wire rope come-a long with a chain to pull the Z backwards up on the Kwiklift pulling from a 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 45 inch steel box section placed horizontally across the rear of Kwiklift.....Jagdpanzer's idea of using a come-a-long worked great
It worked so well that I am going to weld up a padeye at the center of two 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 45 inch steel box sections welded side by side (1-1/2 x 3 x 45 inch steel beam). I will weld two hangers (one on each end). I can just hang the 1-1/2 x 3 x 45 inch steel beam on the end of Kwiklift to pull from the center padeye between each ramp with a come-a-long attached to the rear or front of any vehicle.
I will call this steel beam KLUTZ (KwikLift Utility Towbar for Zs) :sign10:
Pictures next post.
I have four stalls in this shed (garage for those in CA). One stall will be used for parts

I pushed the Z by hand up to the ramps....than attached the wire rope come-a-long like Jagdpanzer suggested. I used an additional 10 ft or longer chain to start with attached to the come-a-long and the Z. The wire rope come-a-long I attached directly to the beam so it was always easy to operate
It would be easy to pull the Z up the ramp either front or back and only takes about 10 minutes. This includes blocking the Z rear wheels (front wheels if you pull the Z up from the front), re-extending the come-a-long and pulling the Z another 5 ft each time.
Just so you understand....the Z has no power in this situation but it is easy to get the Z up to the end of the KwikLift ramps on level ground by hand pushing.
Also...when you start the pull......make sure the Z rear wheels or front wheels are touching the low end of the KwikLift ramp or you will just pull the KwikLift to the Z rather than pull the Z to the KwikLift :sign10:

You only jack up the rear. The front has to be set on its stands(base) already, once the rear is up there are 2 drop legs to set it down on.
It's easy to do if you have a car that runs on its own power.

Or you can just park on the KwikLift inclined as -=Jeff=- does
-=Jeff=- drives up the incline of Kwiklift and parks (shifts into PARK) his Z. Gets out and sets two chocks behind the rear wheels to make sure it stays where he parked it. At that point he could jack the end of KwikLift (placing a hydraulic jack under that 3 inch black tube) that is resting on the floor ending up with each rail horizontal.

With KwikLift you really need a floor jack to take full advantage.
A floor jack should have a minimum lift height of 5 inches (so you can position the jack under the 3 inch cross beam (lift tube) which is maximum a bit over 5 inches off the floor with ramp end on the floor). The floor jack should have a maximum lift height of at least 19 inches (so you can lift the end of KwikLift high enough to drop the two support legs).
There are ways around this if your floor jack does not meet with the 5 inch and 19 inch requirement ;)
The floor jack should have a large jack saddle with four teeth since you are jacking against the 3 inch black cross tube which has no particular jacking slots (pins or holes) even though the 3 inch tube is designed to take a full jacking load.
RICKYRJ1

I notched out a radius on my jack saddle to fit the 3" jack tube (craddles the tube now). It fits perfect and has no chance of sli[[ing off. :-D
