I was just reading in Road and track that the GT3 911 loses 80lbs, mainly from dropping the spare. This is also a popular weight reducer for the Z, however I am always worried about getting stuck with no spare. Porsche supplies a tire patch kit and small pump. Thinking this might be the way to go, so I will be adding this to the list of mods for this spring and summer.

If my car could talk, it would probably remind me that a "spare tire" delete might not be a bad idea for myself.

I've been thinking about lightening the spare. The GTO has a similar sized aluminum spare wheel (17x4.5" I think). But the tire is smaller. I've had to drive on the spare a couple times, so I too am wary of ditching it. FWIW, in neither case for me would a patch kit have helped. I always have an electric air pump in the car as well.

Lee ,f you take off your spare stuff that is worth 50+ lbs now your down to 3390 i'm a bit lighter then that.
I've done all the light wieght stuff that Marc H. mentions in his web site.
I'm debating if i should take off my A/C for some more weight savings, since i can't remember the last time i used it.

I've been thinking out the A/C also, however the minute I take it off I'm sure that it will be hotter than Hell.

I also can't remember the last time I used the radio.....HMMMMMM
