I'm not sure what this is, but in the ad it says this was ordered by a GM exec. with an X-code zr1 body and lt engine?

Read the ad or maybe someone knows......just sounds a little od to me?

Not seeing anything that shows a "wide body"

And if it was a true exec car it would have been a COPO car delivered to GM.

The delivering dealer was Les Stanford.

Jeff, good info! I increased the size of the 2 side view pictures 200% and those rocker panels are of a standard Vette not the downward curves of the ZR-1. I requested a picture of the rear bumper to see if the black spacer plates by the back up lights were also missing. Doubt if he'll respond...looks like a lot of BS to me

Yep...after looking at this side-by-side photo, I concur to the point I'd bet a steak dinner on it that it was NOT a Z body. Its a little difficult to see the shape of the rear from the angle in thepic, but the profile of the door and rear quarter and edge of the fascia looks "std", methinks. (Note rear view of burgundy C4 is not the same one as in the pic. I used it for shape profile comparision to the (red) "Z".)

A couple more comparisons don't convince me 100% the ad pic is a "Z". See what you think...

Holy Cow! I have a RARE 'x' code ZR-1. Worth millions! Maybe I should sell?

GM literature states a check digit in the VIN. I've always wondered what that means.

I thought I was on to something a while back. Most 95s with Dunn HeadS are of an even check digit--but then I found a few that weren't and nullified that hypothesis. Jeff-->is there any significance to the check digit?

None, it is just randomly generated.

There were a lot of factual inaccuracies in the description of that ebay listing.

I finally got a response to my request for pic of rear this AM. They told me reserve was $23K and change but they'd sell it to me for some amount less. All I need do was send the $500 and they'd hold it for me. They also gave me a # where I could contact them and discuss price etc with out delays of going thru EBAY???
I didn't respond: I'd love to have a Lingenfelter but I'd want it to be the twin turbo Z06 and I can't afford that and keep BEAST2...BEAST2 is too important to me so a Lingenfelter toy is not in my future.

where's the 3rd brake light?

where's the 3rd brake light?

That's what I was thinking... I just think it might be a Lingenfelter LT1. Some guy thought he might have known something about C4s saw the '91-'96 shape and thought it was some special ZR-1 bodied LT1.

That, and I'd LOVE to have some special edition LT1 that came out of the factory with LS1 power! [-X

I don't know... I think I'd love to have some LPE action in a third Vette for my household!

I took a look at 95s on Autotrader, all others have a # not a letter in this spot. I spoke to this guy a few years ago when he had a Z in his store. He's been around for awhile and seemed to know alittle about cars. Not sure what to think on this one, agree looks like an LT-1 body.

Here is the explanation: CHECK DIGIT VERIFICATION

To determine check digit (9th digit) of your car you need to take the VIN and assign any letters in the VIN with a set value (number) as follows: A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, D = 4, E = 5, F = 6, G = 7, H = 8, J = 1, K = 2, L = 3, M = 4, N = 5, O = 6, P = 7, R = 9, S = 2, T = 3, U = 4, V = 5, W = 6, X = 7, Y = 8, Z = 9Any numbers in the VIN remain the same (not replaced) and thus you have a 17 digit number.
Then you must multiply each of the 17 digits by a set "weight" (multiplier). The weight applied to each digit is as follows: 1st = 8, 2nd = 7, 3rd = 6, 4th = 5, 5th = 4, 6th = 3, 7th = 2, 8th = 10, 9th = 0 (check digit), 10th = 9, 11th = 8, 12th = 7, 13th = 6, 14th = 5, 15th = 4, 16th = 3, 17th = 2After multiplying each VIN digit by the associated weight - add up the results of all 17 products. Then divide by 11 and the remainder is your check digit.
If the remained is 5, then the check digit is "X".
Here's an example: VIN = 1F1AL52P5TS115520 (note "7" is the check digit) VIN 1 F 1 A L 5 2 P 5 T S 1 1 5 5 2 0Assigned Values 1 6 1 1 3 5 2 7 5 3 2 1 1 5 5 2 0Multiplier 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 10 0 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2Add the products: (1 X 8) + (6 X 7) + (1 X 6) ... (0 X 2) = 269Divide 269 by 11 which gives you 24, and a remainder of 5 which is the same as the 9th digit of the VIN.

Way kewal!

I ran mine, and after skipping a heartbeat when the number did not match (due to a typo), it worked.

I'm in the process of fooling around w/ an Excel program that will allow any and all to simply enter their VIN and have the 9th digit automatically generated. If successful, I'll post it here or mebby in the "Registry" newsletter.

Heheh, Paul I imagine there are many web VIN checkers if you googled one. The check digit isn't like some big security thing, I suspect it's more just to cut down on typos.

To that car in the eBay listing, I wonder if they have an invoice from Lingenfelter for all the decal work? That guy must have a couple grand into it on Lingenfelter window decals, TB plates, etc.
