The other day I mentioned to the wife that I would like to pick up another Z. After she told me I was crazy, she then said "get me my BMW and then you can do whatever you want".
The plan is to get a new car for her in Oct/Nov of 08 so I am plotting my next car; which one would you go for:
1)1990 ZR-1
2)1986-1988 Porsche 944 Turbo
3)1996 LT4
4)????????????
Looking for a driver.

I'd be lusting after one of the 405 hp cars....so my vote would be for a 93 to 95 ZR-1:worship:

If it were me, i'd contact CanadianMike, He's selling his
perfect REd 90, with all the goodies you want for a 350.
Engine's powder coated, ported, gears, slotted brakes, stereo reworked.
He rubs on it so much with a diaper, Hawaii Craig
will barely talk to him anymore since he's so jealous.
The car is almost Frankie proof. Meaning you'd probably not want to change a thing, for a daily driver.
or you could buy mine. I've been thinking of a mini van,
or a Hybrid, or possibly, something fast like a suburu
or one of those Honda's with the nifty fart pipe mufflers, with the neon lights on the bottom, and a wing. you know something spiffy, with a cassette deck and cb radio, would be extra keen.

What Bimmer are you getting her? New? I bought my wife a nice low mile 01 525i last year. Its a damn sweet car. Its like new in & out & everything works perfectly. I bought a set of 17" sport wheels for it off Ebay and it really set it off. Think you can get away with a used one, or will it need to be brand new? Theres some excellent lease deals out there now from BMW as well.
Now, which car for you......how about an 01 or 02 Z06? Excellent prices to be had on these.

I have been thinking the same thing, what car next. Only I have to win the lottery to be able to afford one.:o
My vote is a 02 Zo6.

She has an 01 330I, I never get to drive it as I have a 97 SHO as a daily driver(160 miles round trip to work) so I always buy older cars w/low miles. I wanted an 04/05 M3, then thought why the hell does she need 333hp, so we are looking at the 07/08 328I Coupe.
I'm always trying to talk her into the classics: older C43 AMG Mercedes, etc But if its not new she doesn't like it, she doesn't even like the Z:jawdrop: !

So I'll buck the trend here and say go with a Porsche. Nothing like variety. However, I would pick a 935 over a 944 Turbo, but the same years you're look at. If I found a good deal or really had the bucks, I pick up an '89 935, but an '88 would be just great too. There were some modest revisions between the '86 and '87 935 models that would make the 87-88 models more desireable. The '89 came with a 6 speed if I recall. Best of luck either way you go, but my vote is with the Porsche.

944 Turbo is a car I have always wanted, I graduated high school in 1988, and remember one of my dad's employees coming over to the house with a Diamond Blue 944 Turbo with BBS rims......awesome cars in the 80,s , but thats not saying much. Only bad thing is the 30K service on the timing belt, and the fact that clutch removal requires taking apart about 1/2 the car.

If you are talking late 80's cars, I would get an 87 grand national. Good looking car that can be fun to drive and I don't think parts are too hard to come by. They seem to be fairly easy to Mod(I may be wrong).
It seems like people either love them or hate them. My wife would kill me if I ever got one. Oh well can't afford one anyway.JMHO

Try it in a C5 or C6.

I agree, plus nobody else is allowed to buy any more Z's until the market drops out and I can pick up 2.

If I got a 90 Z would love to do a snake skinner package; no ac, radio, center console, spare tire, etc. Don't know if I can land another set of Dymags for $400 though. A 3000lb Z would be interesting.
