Last four digits on the VIN will give you the car number. VIN can be found on the base of the windshield on the drivers side.

Welcome to the Brotherhood of the Beast.

Not many of the charcoal metallic 1992 ZR1's out there.
In fact, according to fairly reliable sources, there were NONE produced in 1992.
There were 19 in 1991 and 72 in 1990, that's all folks.

There are three possibilities:
1. Your car has been repainted
2. You've got a '90 or a '91
3. The info from GM is wrong

Whatever the case, welcome aboard.
We'll need pics!!

I see this the car that was just on Ebay in Texas? It was listed once before on Ebay on 6/27/07 and at that time it was originally Black. That's all I have on the car. Anyone else?

Let us know more about your purchase, pics and so on.

Welcome to the Brotherhood.

What did you end up giving for the car?

i bought the car at a classic car auction for $19,500 with 80,200 miles.it needs a few things like the radio is inop(comes on but no sound),climate controle is inop, and it needs synchros.overall its a nice car that needs some tlc.it drives great and runs better than i expected.i would like to know what all mods are done to it too.if it was originally black,it will be put back black.

On the inside of the Console door there should be a sticker with all the factory option codes on it. Towards the bottom area will be a paint code. You are looking for a 41U or something to that effect. That would indicate a 1992 black car.

Radio, if you intend to keep it can be fixed by Doctor Don's. Climate control could be a fuse or an assembly.

Others will pipe in with comments I am sure.

i figured i could put a few grand into it and have a nice zr1 for less than 25k.now,if i have to paint it it will be alittle more than that.
i have a friend that has done all my vette stuff in the past and i trust totally.im not a fan of aftermarket sterios so the stock one will stay.i think its in the speakers or speaker wiring though.if i have to paint it,i figure i will have around 27k in it.still not too bad i guess.

Why paint it if the paint on it is good? Save yourself about $5k and drive the crap out out of a nice car. Sounds like you already started. Nice time at the strip. Where were you?

Sweet car if the paint isn't bad, i wouldn't touch.....enjoy driving the hell out of it and then restore it when you are ready.

Pretty damn fast, must have a few more mods than you think. Trap speed is alittle lower than I thought it would be with a 12.68, I ran a 12.54 @ 117.25. Maybe its the 270lbs in the driverseat.

Nice!

I have to agree. Pretty good time considering the 60' and the trap speed.

lol,i weigh alittle over 220 and im 6'3" and these cars seem to fit me just right.its like i slip into it.i drive an 03 crew cab 1ton cummins 4X4 for a daily and its not as comfortable as an 84-96 vette imo, neither is my cobra.as for mods,i know absolutely nothing about this car except it has headers and borla.i think it has gears but im unsure.this thing wheelhops bad.im thinking of losing the cats, will it make the check engine light come on?

Step 1: Remove resonator from Borla system.
Step 2: Install X-Pipe
Step 3: Gain 2/3MPH in trap speed!

Seriously, the Borla resonator necks down to 2 1/4"

Nice pass. Couldn't tell from the vid what gear you went through the traps in. If it was top of third, you have standard gears. If it was towards the top of 4th you have gears. I would say you have a custom chip too. I know Haibeck marks his. Try pulling the chip and seeing if it has and markings from a tuner on it.

i went through the traps at the top of 4th,shifting at 7200rpm.this thing pulls all the way to the rev limiter.

Only problem removing the cats, is the possible
smell, fumes if you will.
Nice pass, where in Oklahoma? You should plan on
attending the Zr -1 Gathering in May, Bowling Green Ky
A must for a new owner, you'll learn more in a few days there, than months on the forum's.

Brad,

Congrats on the new purchase! They're fantastic cars. You'll love it to death. The Bose Gold systems on the early 90's Vette are notorious for their odd speaker/amp design. Search around on this forum as well as the other one and you'll find some good links and threads. Dr. Don's is the workshop of choice for rebuilding the head units. Post some picks and enjoy!

it is at a shop getting the new synchros and getting the cats deleted and an X-pipe put on,then it goes straight to the body shop to get all the odds and ends fixed and a new black wardrobe.an absolutely perfect and glossy black on black with chrome zr1 wheels will soon be home.thanks for all the compliments!when i get to really get nasty with the shifter and drag radials i am hoping for some 12.20's or 30's.

Log on to the National Corvette museum web site - you can get a copy of the original window sticker and the build sheet. If you do a Car-Fax you can trace the history of the car and see if the car was ever listed with any issues - such as - Mileage discrepencies, Totaled by an Ins. Co.. It will also give you an idea of where the car has been over the years.

I am sure that you will have a lot of fun with it. - It becomes a sickness - Just ask my wife !!!!!

brad , hi from another brad . before you get to nasty with the drag radials , you might want to ck the rear bearings and u joints on the 1/2 shafts . if they need replaced get the super spicer without the grease fitting . bill b shared they were the strongest ones he knew of . are you getting the et street radials .if so a good staring point on pressure is 20 . i have gone as low as 15 , but she gets a little squirely on the big end . do a real godd burn out on the first pass then just heat till they just smoke a little . doing big burnouts in them before every pass will only hurt your 60fts . also bill b. zf doc has some c beam plates that really help keep the car straight .have a great tie at the strip and be prepared to answer alot of ?s . like was that etc .young one dont know about our zr1s.untill you beat them:mrgreen:
