I have a split along the (vinal) edge of my Fire Red seat. Any recommendations for a good vinal/leather repair kit?

TIA,

P.

It's a combination leather/vinyl.

Really?? lookign at the 92 covers I have at home, it is all leather..

same with the new covers I installed on the 92 seats I have

my 90 seats are 100% Vinyl, apparently whomever did the red to black interior swap on my car bought the vinyl set in black

I had the typical wear on my drivers side seat bolster. I took the seat out a brought it in to a local upholstery shop. He replaced the worn material in that section, matches perfectly. Mine was the gray interior, don't know about matching the red. I think it cost me $60.00.

I've heard and seen this solution several times over the years. GOOD ADVICE!
I've never had nor seen any success resulting in a long term solution with the repair kits or painting solutions for vinyl or leather repairs.

Paul All those repair kits make for shitty results. Just take the seatback to a professional as stated I think you will be happier with the result. If he declares it (Its dead Jim) I think you will need to look at a new seat cover.

Paul, if your seats are on their last leg and you are trying to find an inexpensive soultion until you can afford total new seats (>$750) you might try IGGEE. I've installed their covers on 3 Vettes and seen several other Vettes with their covers. They are stylish (especially the two tone color models), fit is better than just being acceptable and IMHO you can't beat the value at $200. Installation takes less than an hour following easy instructions.

Thanks, guys! The split is an inch long on the driver's side bolster, near the hinge. It is in fact vinal, but it is hardly noticeable to a blind man on a galloping horse (as an old friend used to say). I have been in and around the car for several months, and just now discovered it. Course, now that I know it's there, it bugs me waaaaay out of proportion with the size of the split...[sigh].

Well, I guess I'll just pull it and have it done. At some time I may want to replace the leather seat covers - maybe with a two tone set like Jeff's! (They look veeeerrrryyyy kewal, BTW, and he did it himself too!:) =D>
