Thermal protection w/ headers?

Once the factory manifolds and cats (with all their heat shields) come off, is there any need to put some replacement heat protection in place? Would having the headers Jet-Hot coated or something similar be good enough? I'm just wondering about melting floorpans.

i ave had mt jeal heasers on my car going on 4 yrs and no problem. bnut i did sshange the routing ofv the o2 sensor wires and made a little shieldfor the clutch hydrolic line

I would recommend coating and Marc Haibeck told me (I think he's OK
with me quoting him):

I discovered high temp wire sheath. It's like the covering that GM uses except it has a higher temp rating and is silver to reflect heat. For the one or two wires, PN 2652K31. For the O2 sensor cables, PN 2652K32. For the clutch hose, PN 2652K33.

Opinions differ on this, but for about $300 - $350 with shipping, I had my Jeal headers coated at www.swaintech.com (http://www.swaintech.com). Gave me peace of mind, looks great, and I really think it reduces the temps and saves the underhood components (O2 sensor wires, plastic clips, etc.) from excessive and damaging heat.
