Went to Autozone to get a Mobil 1 Oil Filter. The Clerk told me there is a recall on Oil Filters for the LT5's & all the filters have been taken of the self. Has anyone heard of this? (Vancouver Washington.)

Manfred, I use the K&N. You can find them online for around $6 per filter. Never been a big fan of the Mobil 1 (mostly because I can never find them, but then again, I can't find the K&N on the shelves either :sign10: )

Aftre reading through a pile of posts over at Bobistheoilguy.com, I've switched to PureONE filters. High quality, perform consistently well, and are easily available for our motors. I too have had difficulty always finding a Mobil1 filter and I can purchase 2 PureONE's for the price of 1 Mobil1

There is no recall. Autozone is purging all their stores of the M1-207 LT5 oil filters. Mobil went to the extended performance (silver and black box) filters and the LT5 M1-207 is the only part number where some of the old style (green and silver box) M1-207 filters are still on the shelf right along side the new style M1-207 filters. I pass right by the old filter and grab one of the new ones...same price and a better filter. But that leaves them with a bunch of old filters they can't get rid of so they're purging ALL M1-207s...for the staggering price of $.01. Yes, one penny whether it's the old style or new style. I'm in the process of buying all the new style M1-207s in Jacksonville, FL I can get my hands on for that price, but there are plenty of the old style filters available if anybody is interested. I used to run them so there isn't anything wrong with them, I just prefer the newer style.

That's not a misprint, $0.01 is the price. I haven't checked Orange Park yet, I'll let you chase those down. Are you interested in the old style M1-207s??? The store right next to me (in Neptune Beach) has 5 of them. There are some at the Cassat, Edgewood, W Main Street, and Atlantic Blvd stores but I don't know which ones they have. I'm checking them tomorrow and if they're the new ones, I'm going to try to snag them.

Happy hunting!!

I've always stuck with their extended performance line. I'll pass on the green ones for now. There aren't too many AutoZones down this way. There is one on Blanding, but otherwise, most parts stores are DiscountAuto.

Nice call folks! I was only able to score one filter between the two semi-local AutoZone's. Got it for $2. The manager said he couldn't sell something for $.01 even though that's what it rang up as.

He's lying!!! I've bought six of the extended performance M1-207s and every one of them has been $0.01. If you really wanted to press the issue, I'd go back and tell him you contacted corporate and they said he violated company policy (he actually did according to my friend who is the manager at my local store) by overcharging you just to shake him up a little. This is a nationwide sale due to Autozone discontinuing carrying the M1-207 altogether. It rang up as $0.01 because that is what the price is...I would call the manager a cheap bastard but I'm not sure what that would make me for only paying $0.06 for six top of the line filters.

PS The store right next door to me has about six of the old style M1-207 filters in stock for $0.01 each. If anybody is interested, I can get them and ship them to you. There are more of them in other stores in Jax that I could have sent to the store next to me and get those too.

Johnny, check the Autozones near you. If you don't mind the old style M1-207s, I can send all the ones from Jax, FL to you. There's nothing wrong with them as I use to run them when they were the best. But the new "extended performance" M1-207s are the best now so that's what I run...otherwise, I'd still be using the original filters.

What do the old ones look like? What is the diff between old and new?

The old ones are in a green and silver box (mostly green) and the filter is white. The new one is in a silver and black box (mostly silver) and the filter is black (looks OEM). The new extended performance filter uses synthetic fibers and has twice the particulate holding capacity. It also has better single/multi pass SAE numbers but the old filter has very high numbers. There is less resistance to flow with the synthetic fibers in the new filter too. Having said that, there is nothing bad about the old ones and in fact they are very good especially compared to other filters.

I went to Autozone yesterday. They didn't have any on the shelf at all. Went from M1-206 to M1-208.

My local Autozone has one left...his price on the computer is .01, with a notation to "throw away." He refused to sell it for .01, saying "we can't do that." He would, however, sell it for the regular price. :icon_scra

Yeah, same here in Oklahoma City last week. My son went for me and one of the sales counter guys called every store and no one had them. Mentioned that they may have all been purchased by a customer at the "corporate store" level. Whatever that means. Maybe popping up on eBay later???

Yea and it will be that "friendly vendor" who buys up parts, jacks up the price & sticks it to us. [-X

I hit a couple of Auto Zone over the weekend and none to be had. The one store I had gotten one there last fall. But I did score on 8 35' 16/3 extension cords at K-Mart for .99 each.

Just to bring this back to the top. I hit a couple of the parts stores that carry the M1 filters. And nobody has the 207 filter anymore. I find it hard to believe as this filter crosses over to a Jeep Cherokee filter as well.

I'd been looking for a while. Even considered putting a remote Oberg on it. Then, out of sheer luck I found four on a shelf of a Checker store. Yes, I bought all four.
