BTW, your order sheet did show an RPO ZR1 when you ordered your ZR-1 from GM. You know that option for which we paid $30K. :)

Let's review the documentation from GM, shall we? Look on the window sticker. The ONLY reference to ZR1 (and there is only ONE) is in the options column:
ZR1 SPECIAL PERFORMANCE PACKAGE INCLUDES.... (NOTE: NO DASH!!!)
(Did you notice there is only ONE reference to ZR1 on the entire window sticker from GM?)

Now, let's look at the build sheet. The official GM document only refers to the code ZR1 (WITHOUT the dash) ONE TIME in field 72, as ZR1 (Note again - NO DASH)

This means more to me than the fact that there are a few decals on the car with dashes. The C4 car is a ZR1.

I did check on those plastic pieces glued to my car and yes it still says ZR-1.

I also checked on my build sheet, original window sticker, option list and this web site URL http://www.zr1netregistry.com and they all say ZR1. The hyphen is nothing more than a marketing thing.

My point is it really is NOT a big deal if the car is called ZR-1 or ZR1. (I never heard it called ZR hyphen 1, it's only in writing that we use the hyphen when we're patient to do it). This revived topic is only here because of the new ZR1 is making people sensitive about it. This argument is just as silly as when people call the Z06 a Zoh6 and people argue over which is correct. We all know what it is and what it is called, so can we get a little more technical on this "ZR-1 Technical Posting" forum and discuss the virtues of the 415 vs 441, instead.

What is important that we still care about our cars and help each other out in time of need. That is why I cherish this site and its members.

Let me put it this way, I still enjoy my '95 #442 today as much or more as I did when I drove it off the showroom floor. I also enjoyed a ride in a stock C6Z at Pocono racetrack and it out accellerates outhandles most ZR-1s. Will I keep my ZR-1? You bet. Will I get a Z06, ZR1 in the future? You bet. :cheers:

I just looked again at the "owner's kit" :o ...... so I guess the ZR-1 part was concocted by the marketing guys? I know it wasn't the guys down in accounting!

Well, I'm glad I got one anyway! A 90 ZR-1. This car sure beats the heck outta anything else I could have bought for the $ I spent.:mrgreen:

The model is a Corvette ZR-1. The RPO list and build sheet don't have "Corvette" on there either, but that's still what the car is. :) You could say the "Corvette" name is just a marketing thing too. And I suppose it is. But that doesn't make it meaningless.

That said, I don't think the dash is a biggie unless we have both gens on the board, then I suppose it could add confusion if someone doesn't reference the model year.
