I am replacing my windshield with a standard C4 . It supposedly has Solar rating. Anyway, I understand the there are two moldings/retainers that need replacing. Does anyone have the part numbers of these so I can be sure to get the right ones if I need them?

Also, is there a method to preserving the ones on the car. I think they are screwed on and glued on.

Thanks

My understanding is the weatherstrip is included but the retainers are not. They can sometimes save them and won't know until the windshield is out if they will be needed. They will have them if needed though. I suspect from all I have read they will need them.

Because it's a ZR-1, the owner of the company is supposed to be coming out personnally to make sure this job is done right, so I was told. happens on the 7th, so I will post pics and a scenario of what happened after that.

John-

The reason I ask is the weatherstrip is expensive but a good idea to replace. If your installer is charging around $700 for the windshield and installation, that probably includes the strip. If it is a lot less, it may not.

Price includes "molding" and is recommended. I am having them do a '94 Firebird at the same time and the "molding" is also required. This company has been in businees for 37 years, I am going to trust that they know what they are doing. I will be there for the whole job, so I plan on stopping them if something is F'ed up with the install. Price I have from them is only $275 so it must not include the weatherstrip/molding.

You're making me nervous, I am calling them tomorrow about this.

Thanks

I just started to buy all the weather strips and I know I paid at least $250.00 for just the windshield one......the genuine GM stuff is very pricey.

sorry, i forgot this John.....I can go look up the bill & give you the P/N & exact price if you need it.

John-

Sounds like a steal for the windshield and labor. Even if you pay extra for the strip, it will be a good deal. I am used to big city prices and getting hosed. Probably no reason to be nervous.
