Flying Lizard to Compete in 2005 American Le Mans Series; Team to Field Two Porsches in Second Year of Competition ALMS

Team Story 12-9-2004

SONOMA, Calif. - Flying Lizard Motorsports announced today that the team will compete in the GT2 class (previously called GT) in the upcoming 10-race, 2005 American Le Mans Series (ALMS) season. The Sonoma, California-based team will again field two Porsche GT3 911 RSRs, No. 44 and No. 45, in a distinctive silver and red livery. For the 2004 ALMS season, the team's first year in competition, Flying Lizard finished second in GT in both the Drivers Championship and overall team points.

Flying Lizard Crew Chief Tommy Sadler talked about the upcoming season, "We're looking forward to getting back on track at the ALMS season-opener, the Twelve Hours of Sebring, in March. We'll see what a difference a year makes as we take the Porsches out for our second ALMS season. We've still got a long way to go and the next few months will be extremely important as we prepare the cars and the crew for a challenging 2005 season."

The team expects to run Michelin-supplied tires again on the two Porsches in the 2005 ALMS series. Paul Truess, Flying Lizard No. 44 car chief, added, "Last year, with the help of Porsche and Michelin, we learned what it takes to keep the Porsches competitive on track. 2005 should be another year of tough competition in the GT2 class. With a longer ALMS race season of 10 races instead of nine, our challenge is to keep building on what we learned in 04 and do everything we can to stay one step ahead of the competition."
