View Full Version : Goodyear vs. BF Goodrich "Z" rated?

If you were driving primarily on highways and dry conditions - rain only by accident(!), sometimes spirited, where mileage was not the primary consideration, which would you go with?

TIA (Be gentle...I'm new to the Zs, and I think this grin on my face is permanant!!!:mrgreen:)

Goodyear F1-GSD3's are a great tire.
I have no experience with BFG's.

I have BFG KD's and they are "ok" in rain, but not recomended.

Go with Goodyear F1's :cheers:

Do your shopping with that prices too, there are good prices on them.

I run the KD's. They are fine in the rain. But are a problem in standing water. You have to be on your toes and alert.

In the dry, the KD's are awesome. I have a little problem blowing them away. but once they are hooked and cruising around a corner they are great.

I would seriously consider the Kumho V700 tires if you are looking for max performance and won't be driving in the wet.

I just replaced the original GY GSCs that came on the car in 94 with a new set of GY F1 GS-D3s and man what a difference. Handling is a lot surer and they run a lot quieter as well. Can't tell you about how they are in the rain cause thats when the Z goes in the garage and I switch to the Mercedes which does quite well in it.

D3's here & I like them very much......but mine is a DD so wet grip was my top consideration. The G/Y's are not affraid of puddles at all!

I would think that for your intended use the BFG's will be better, jmho. Ya have to really put heat into the D3's to see how good they are in the dry....and they will stick when hot. If you don't mind the smell of rubber in the dry, then the D3's at that point work very well.

Custer Park is about 25 miles south of Joliet:rolleyes:. There are a couple C4 drivers out here, but mine is the only Z that I'm aware of.
