Can anyone tell me if the power light comes on when you start the car? I am trying to determine if my light is out or the switch is bad. I got a code 24 speed sensor.. not sure that would cause the light to go out. Thanks for any ideas.

I have a 90 Z, and when you start the car and the pwr. key is in the "Full Power" setting the light comes on and stays on.

Try this:
Turn the Valtet Key off and while driving the car at 45mph, drop it into second gear and hammer the throttle. Wait until you see the shift light then slip it into third gear.
Slow back down to 45mph, turn the Valet Key ON and downshift into second and hammer the throttle as before.

The difference *should* be obvious.
If you can't tell, then you've got problems that need 'fixin.

Good luck!

Well I may have to do it different as I have a 4l80e in my zr1.. but seems like it should work the same way for the most part. Thanks for the idea.

1990's must be different--I have to turn the key on every time I start the Z to have "full power" light come on and stay on. I was the one mod (key on always) my custom chip guy could not do!

So my routine is Key on and Active off every time!!! LOL

This does not work with a stock PROM - full power can't be activated above 40 mph with the power key.

A stock 90 comes up full power, 91 and later reduced power and you have to activate full power with the key. The code 24 needs to be fixed first - do you have a service engine indication?

I had a service engine once .. then went away after shutoff.. has not come back (speedo quit working during that period ).. now nothing showing other than what the code reader shows and no power light on.

Hello;

I am new to the site. I just got a 1990 ZR1 and have a question concerning the full power and valet key. The car runs great until put into the full power mode, then it runs crappy. I have no idea what to look for or where. Would appreciate it if someone could give me some direction. I have owned several Corvettes, but not a ZR1.

Thank you

Tony

Tony, I'm guessing when it runs poorly it's when you are WOT. If that is the case, I will go out on a limb andsay your secondary injectors have not been exercised enough and are gummed up.

Forgot to ask, if the injectors are the case, are they difficult to replace? Iv'e replaced them on my Z06 and that was an easy replacement.

Just remove the plenum and the fuel rail. It's best to replace all 16 at once.
