Suck me sideways..............went and picked up the windshield, took my power drill to uncrate and inspect, well Kurt packaged these things with SQUARE head bolts NOT phillips or torx etc. Had NO WAY to open crate, asked fedex what the policy was , they said if damaged just call , I signed for the windshield, wrote on slip that I COULD NOT inspect , got home opened box...BUSTED AS HELL! I am probably f*cked.
I am on hold with fedex now....
Note the windshields were boxed and NO padding inside the had about 3 inches left right top and bottom to slide up/down left/right and bang into crates...they should have had rubber or foam to hold them steady.

If they had the padding on those corners I think it would have made it. I understand the concept of allowing the glass to float as if its rigid there could be problems but all those corners should have been padded. It basically beat itself to death on the inside of the container. Sorry man I hope the claim goes through ok. Goldcylon

Dont blame FedEx, blame the guy who does not know how to pack properly.
Just look at his ebay feedback and that will say it all.
Why do people still do business with this price gouger

You do know that Kurt is not packaging the windshields right. He paid somebody else to package them properly.

Yeah Jeff I hear you but the end result is the same. Everybodies out and one look at the job even I could tell without anything on the corners this could have been the potential result. Now if the corners where padded and foam blocked and this crate method used yeah I could say the shipper would have done everything resaonablly prudent to ship a windshield safely. Everythings a learning experience but I expect we are going to see many more of the same results until the customer feedback gets back to the seller to ship these properly. Theres plenty of blame to go around and not just with FedEx. I bet if they (FEDEX) saw what was in the box and the way these were packed before they were crated they would have expressed a few concerns as well. Just my .02 im sure others especailly a lot of ZR-1 owners that fronted this project in both time and funds probably are formulating the same opinion by now. Its sad to see this turn out this way. I only hope the project can adjust fire and move on.

Dude, that is what he said but who knows with this guy. If he hired labor or a packing company he is still responsible more than FedEx is. Would you agree with that?

Look at all the windshields coming in busted. He is responsible for hiring someone who does not know what they are doing. Windshields are not a pair of sneakers and need specialized knowledge on how to ship them.

Well, mine was sent through Roadway. Kurt is trying them out and also did a few little changes to the crate. Roadway messed up and forgot to get mine to my house today, but it was at their dock about a half hour away. So I decided to pick it up instead of waiting until tomorrow. Kurt really wanted to know how it turned out too.

I opened it up at the dock and .......

Before I get to that, I did notice a hole in the bottom of the crate that appeared to be from a forklift. I used to work in warehouses and drive forklifts so I know what the holes look like.

Ok you all are waiting to know the status of my winshield. I just finnished doing a second inspection at home and mine survived!!!!

Why are you expecting FedEx to be responsible for the damage since it is the vendors fault
Has he offered to refund your money or send a new windshield? Or is he telling you to file a claim with FedEx as a way to pass the financial cost to someone else?

here is what kurt is doing.

I just got word today that the two windshields we shipped via Roadway express last week were both delivered in perfect un damaged condition.

We used the same crates, same padding BUT added legs & took out the "human" handling. Roadway express use forklift trucks to pick up the crates and are not hand carried.

So, moral of the story, windshields will be shipping again as of Wednesday, customers that received damaged windshields will be receiving replacements 1st, then the other customers will receive there's later.

All future orders will be shipped out via Roadway express.
