My clutch started slipping bad today. I swung into the Chevy dealer and they told me it's shot and I need a new preassure plate and clutch kit. They told me a new preassure plate is discontinued and a new flywheel is 2 grand. Plus 8 hrs of labor...and the clutch slave. The car is still drivable but won't handle the torque in first while accel. Engine is strong. Clutch is soft and there is chatter when I depress it. Any advice?

Yep! Don't let them do the work. How could they know if you need a new flywheel without inspecting it? Whether you want a stock type or various levels of high performance, there are lots of choices for clutches. Should you need a flywheel, good used dual mass (stock) flywheels are available and a Fidanza flywheel can be had new for about $400 or less.

Aaron Scott (SGC) in Thomasville, GA would be a great place to take it to. He can give you all the options & recommendations. His reputation is impeccable.

Thank you. I just added fluid to the slave and still slipping. The flywheel sounds like it has high spots so I'm probably going to have to replace it all. So I should go with Findaza flywheel and clutch...or valeo?
