Anyone know where the 1991 Mallet GTP ZR1 is that was modified for the One Lap of America Race . It was a 396 supercharged, custom carbon fiber hood with air intake. made 900 hp on pump gas and 1440 on race fuel estimated top speed of 265 mph.

ye,s I have the pictures to prove it, it was at the museum in 2001 i think. I emailed Mallet to request some more information on it to do an article in our next members newsletter.

before days, i thought about name of this guy who made supercharged for zr1 , that was before 17 years,when i called the guys there and talked with Mallet himself personely, cuz i had Corvette fever magazine at that time (mallet zr1 project was there),and i was very interesting in his projet!! :wink:
in corvetteforum, i post thread about supercharging ZR-1, thats why i was thinking about who made it before,but i havent chance to look and search really!! i have lots of work these days... :(
guys, my memory:icon_scra ,i become old man. sorry LOL
still i have 12 magazines from corvette fever ,and will scan pictures and post it here before CF ! :p

see , i had supercharged 355 C4 , but ZR1 was in my head always,and superchargers are my babys...

the top speed isnt true!! :wink:
btw: all front brakets and pullys were custom made.
i remember there was only some pictures with incomplete engine but supercharger fixed there!!
then ,i dont know what happend with the car..i think he went in 24 h race, but Very very few who intersted in this project. what a shame!!! jmho
the man was looking for sponsor, but i dono if he had some..

the part that my scanner cut off was verified top speed of 241 mph..that is mach camel 3.7 in Kuwaiti terms. :)

Hadi, appoligize to the man or he might make you sit on a cruize missle and twirl.:mrgreen: are there any pictures or drawings on how he put a supercharger on it. it sure would be nice if someone thats done this but doesnt want to promote it would turn it over to someone that does want to pursue it . super charging to me would be alot easier than turbos even though they are less efficent..

It could be a modified ZR-1 in chassis/body only and have a small block, splayed valve engine that is S/C'd, not an LT5.

you got what I got, I am working on more info and pics. And your are right, MIGHT not be a LT5 , I would ASSUME that it is, that is what got my attention. I will follow up, seems to be a lot of interest.

Correct - it first appeared at the 1996 One Lap of America at Watkins Glen. Jim Minneker was the driver and was supposed to start behind Sam Haldiman's ZR-1. Sam told Jim to start first because he didn't want to slow him down. The Mallet pooped out on the first lap, and SAMS ZR1 went on to place better than the Mallett overall. There were 5 ZR-1s that ran that
One Lap. The Mallett was/is not a ZR-1.

Grahovec with George Hall is #7 and Steve Ahlgrim & Scott Ahlgrim is #9.
Sam Haldiman and Matt Hinman drove #16. This makes a total of 5 ZR-1's
running in this years One Lap."

the first column is finishing position, second is car number and
