Howdy!

Am in the process of buying a '90 ZR1.
While researching ZR1s, I saw a posting somewhere in a ZR1 forum (maybe here, maybe elsewhere, dont' remember) about how to cheat cheaper insurance.
If anyone remembers this thread, I'd appreciate a link.
Allstate quoted me $2200 a year, seems a little excessive for a 45 year old male, no tickets, one accident (which drops off in April). It won't be a daily driver, just warm sunny Sundays and car shows. ;-)
About my new toy, she's Red with Beige interior, 3500 all original, unmolested miles.

Any hints, tips, info appreciated.

I pay $750 full coverage for a year, no restrictions for my 90 w/30K miles
I am 30, no tickets or accidents...

$2200!!!??

You could try State Farm, I think they have a restricted plan (can't drive to work, and only 3K miles max a year)

Hello Tom, and welcome to the forum.

Collector car insurance is the way to go for a ZR-1 in that condition. As Bans said, there may be a few restrictions, but the price is right.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Not to high jack a thread (sorry) but I am also brand new. I was quoted $2100 a year and am 35 with only one ticket and no points lost. Has anyone heard of anything in Canada? The car is a sunday cruiser since I am not allowed to drive it to work since I work for a competing manufacturer.

I work for Nissan Canada and yeah I get free demo's, Gas, Insurance etc so it wouldn't be overly appreciated for me to show up in a ZR1 on a daily basis LOL.

I may be able to get insurance from Lant insurance which does specialty insurance but it has to be a minimum of 15 years to qualify so technically I would expect that 1990 should meet the 15 age minimum requirement. If so it should save me approximately $1200 a year at least I would think. Problem is you are really restricted on the use of the vehicle.

Try some of the companies that write classic car insurance like Leland West or Grundy's.

Good Luck
