I drove the Z down to Corinth, Ms. last night and saw a possum. Hes getting up in the years now and evidently had a cold because he could`nt hit all the notes. I know it was embarrasing to him because he said so several times. I`ve also seen Merle Haggard, David Allen Coe, 38 Special, Ray Price and Percy Sledge to name a few on the same stage in the last couple of years. I enjoyed the opportunity to see the possum and driving the Z highlighted the night. It turned over 114,000 miles on the way home. The possum closed the show with "He stopped loving her today" and the crowd roared.

For all you Yankee's brothers of the beast out there, i will try and
translate....(Grin).......Possum.....aka..."George Jones"
one of the all time greats in country music.
Here in the St. Louis Area, at the many gambling casino's
we also have the pleasure of seeing in a rather intimate setting.
some of the great bands and artists of the past.
this last year, I got to see, Marshall Tucker Band.
who i grew up idolizing, lead singer, had just went through, vocal cord
surgery, no ****. He wasn't as good as he used to be, but hell, who is?
they had incorporated another singer into the band, from the group
the outlaws, and HE could belt out all of the old time favorites.
although, not like my buddy Richard, i didn't drive the Z.
I got to see Waylon Jennings in one of his last shows. The years had taken their toll, his back was so bad he had to sit while performing. Still.....like Cash & Nelson, there was that unmistakable sound of individuality and personality that is not nearly as prevalent from the current performers. Waylon will be missed.
Even if you didn't know who possum is, the dead giveaway was "He Stopped Loving Her Today." I can't even think the words without hearing George's voice.
If you get a chance, see Charlie Daniels band perform live. These guys have some serious rock talent and can really show it off.
