View Full Version : Dry Ice and the LT5
I will be doing the dry ice treatment on the undercarriage etc on the 91 once weather permits driving the two hour mountain pass route, and wondered if anyone has experience enough to comment on a lighter dry ice treatment on the engine itself. The engine bay should be fine to do. The engine has some light staining and is not that bad and the original finish appears intact but it is not a clean as it could be. If it is a disaster waiting to happen I will go the various successful routes many have described here. Starter valley etc already cleaned during resurrection. The lt5 looks so nice when spotless.

I recently became the caretaker of a Callaway CR-1 that was stored poorly for a number of years. Was totally filthy underneath and under hood. Had it professionally dry ice cleaned and was amazed at the results. Still planning to have the LT5 refinished. A good professional dry ice guy should have the equipment that can be adjusted and dialed down to be more delicate on certain surfaces. He didn't damage any wiring, plastics, or rubber.
My advice, look around for a well known professional that has good references. In the wrong hands, a dry ice machine could cause a lot of damage.
