ike most stories I tell this one has a back story so here we go:

My buddy invited me to go with him to a dyno day for one of the local mustang clubs and I said sure. turns out we were the only non cobra to show up since we took his 01 GT that runs low 13s. We meet up and head out to ohio and pick up a few more people there, including a 663hp cobra. As we're standing around my buddy makes a comment about my vette and they start in with the ribbing. One convo goes something like this:
(stupid comment I don't remember)
laughter
"So what year vette ya got"
90 ZR-1
"OH......those will run"
yeah it's a fun car
"Yeah I'd say they are...think you could have kept up today?"
Probably.

Now the problem with posting this story rather than telling it in person is the look on the guys face when he heard what the car was. He went from a smug smile to a http://forums.offtopic.com/images/smilies/eek3.gif It was great. Totally made getting up at 6am worth it. As to if I could have kept up....with the lowest dynoing car being in the 440s and the highest being in the 663 range with me in the truck to keep it from spinning tires.....I think I would have been all right. The great part these guys drive like the old guard ZR-1ers. It was a great time

haha, the GT is a fun summer car to drive....it'll be better once I have the money to drop a 03 cobra motor/trans/seats into it

I rented one recently and was surprised at it (having not gotten stranded).
Most of my friends rustangs had all sorts of issues back in the day. It seemed as if they were fixing them on a regular basis while my Z28 ran like clockwork, so they must have improved QC in recent years.

Yup, I had a guy the other day tell me he had a 96 in the garage that was "the same as mine." I informed him that he didn't.

Yea, I had a local kid showing me his just acquired 2000 vett, bragging that he paid 20 G's for it. Then asked me how much I paid for my '95, told him twice as much as he paid. He looked at me like I was a dumb-***. Then I asked him if he wanted to race for 'pinks'. He didn't know what a ZR1 was either! I could have used that car as my grocery-getter.
