Hi All - I have tried to wait for the reproductions, but the last appreciable update I got was in March of last year, and I really want to be able to drive #004 when the weather is nice.
So... does anyone know where there might be either an OEM '93-'95 windshield hiding, or, one of the good reproductions from a few years back? I prefer the '93-'95 vs. '90-'92 as I want the cutout to be correct.
I would prefer to only do this once. If I put a standard windshield in (which honestly, I am about to do, with some tint to recreate the look), I know I'm going to want a reproduction if they ever come to fruition, unless I have a correct one from the start.
I do *not* want one that looks like this!

Thanks for any leads!

Best wishes Mike! You deserve a new windshield more than any I have ever seen. I have a Hail Mary I?ll try to reach out to and let you know if I succeed. Best wishes. Your car is too nice to have the worst windshield. [emoji[emoji637][emoji639][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]][emoji640]]

Thanks Zack! You may be aware there is an old Windshield thread on our MEMBERS ONLY page in which members have requested status updates with absolutely no response from those in the know. I understand we have a volunteer BOD and efforts are appreciated....but periodic feedback to MEMBERS asking simple questions would be a good thing.

Scott, thanks for the comment. Do you have a link to that thread? I honestly have no idea who was heading this project but I know the board will. FYSA, Phil Wasinger Jagdpanzer (https://zr1.net/forum/member.php?u=939) is now the Merchandise Chairman and plans to tackle projects like this.

Thank you Zach, for researching. I am one of the ones who've asked many times over the last few months and jokingly have posted many pictures of my horrible windshield the past few years. People are probably getting tired of me! But you all see what I'm dealing with!
Any updates are truly appreciated!
Thanks,
Mike

I actually had this priced over three years ago and then the Registry announced the forthcoming reproduction project. I recently started down this path again with a small local glass shop, but figured I'd ask just one more time for an update.
Thanks!

Thank you Craig! I really appreciate the kind words, and any leads! I had reached out to David last year when I saw he had replaced the windshield in #58, but turned out he had to buy one of his reproductions back from someone else to complete that car!

Windshield Update: We discussed it at length during tonight's board meeting and new members were given the history of the endeavor. My takeaway - the company we had setup to produce these directly fumbled the manufacturing multiple times on top of dragging their feet and we (the Registry) haven't stayed on them. Dennis is going to contact his POC at the company on Wednesday (01/22/25), ask for an update, then pass that info to Phil Wasinger who is going to take on the matter going forward. Phil has a career of experience in engineering, manufacturing, and the logistics which go with it. If the company simply isn't going to make the windshields, the plan is to swiftly work to move on to another manufacturer.

THANK YOU so much for the update, Zach, and thank you to Dennis and Phil as well. Truly appreciated, guys! I don't have any experience in these areas, (just 34 years of IT!), but definitely happy to help any way I can in the effort, and maybe the sad title of worst ZR-1 windshield ever.
Thank you,
Mike
