I own Vin 103 and I was sure that the first 100 cars were used for testing/show/Europe. I thought that for a very long time, but I zero proof and not sure that is right. I can't find any of my books. Can anyone confirm if the first cars where sold or were test mules.

The last six digits of the ZR-1 VIN begin at 800001 and run thru 803049, accounting for each of the 3,049 ZR-1 Corvette Coupes built in 1990.

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps a Carfax or similar report will confirm beginning history of your VIN....?

I own 1990 #2184 sold by dealership to customer as new (with minimum miles) in California and similar/same for 1990 #2511 in (I think) West Virginia.... I got that information from Carfax reports on both cars.

I 'think' all the ZR-1 press intro cars were 1989 model year.
There are others, more knowledgeable than me, that can speak to that.

Ive read that 84 1989 model year pilot ZR-1's were produced for display and testing.
They are easily discernable because of their wheels having center cover caps and hard pipe plumbing of the PVC system, unlike production year 1990 year ZR-1's with rubber hoses.
Ive also read that the first 100 or so 1990 ZR-1's were hand assembled and carefully pre-tested before released into the real world.
