Edit: Solved! The car used to have vacuum actuated muffler valves but those were pinned open long ago.
-----

My 94 has no spare tire carrier and no spare tire delete brace. I?m adding a spare tire carrier back for a long drive coming up. The left bracket installed fine, but there?s a vacuum ball and what looks like a check valve using the right side bolt holes. Were these relocated from somewhere else? I noticed one side of the ball?s mount has no bolt, so I assume this isn?t where it should be.

Thanks in advance.

That looks like the vacuum ball that normally sits in the left hand side front wheel well.

Pic is from my 91. Not sure of they mounted these any differently in later models.

Is the car stock?

My 87 has a much larger vacuum ball on the same position. I'll pop the hood when I have time later and look at the Z.

I didn't even pick up on the fact that the solenoid is disconnected. Scratching my head on its purpose other than maybe preventing a vacuum leak. The line crosses over to the driver side and runs forward. Need to trace it.

My 94 FSM shows the same, so later today I'll get her down from the lift and see if that one is missing.

Nope. Many modifications done long ago by previous owners.

Mystery solved from a previous owner. These were used for mufflers with vacuum actuated valves, but those valves were pinned open, and these parts not removed. I can plug it and remove them.

When I saw the polished muffler I figured that round canister was a vacuum reservoir for either cutouts or flaps in the mufflers.

All that money for a bi mode exhaust only to pin it open. Must be an underwhelming product compared to factory NPP exhausts. I personally enjoy the dual personality you get from those thoes types of exhausts, but I have not heard a lot of love about the B&B Fusion.

Interestingly, my B&B Fusions default valve position is open, not closed. I'm going to assume B&B noticed the preferred default position and adjusted.
