My apologies if this is a dumb question but I have been looking at 90-92 years and I noticed in the underbody pics of a few '91's some have the rectangle muffler and some have the double pipes on each side.
Also, I see some control arms are black and others are silver.
Was this an option or part of a package or color combo?
Thanks for the information.

Please disregard the control arm question. It seems I was looking at some that were were not as clean as others so what looked like black was dirty silver:)

All 1990-1995 ZR-1's stock mufflers had double pipes on each side

Yes, that's not stock. Some people liked the LT-1 rectangular look so they replaced the mufflers or added muffler eliminators rectangular.

The sketchs from the parts books may show 2 pipes per side, but my 92 came stock with rectangular tips as shown in the actual pictures above.

Then I would say it was fitted with LT1 mufflers from the factory Possible part shortage? I was actually at the factory in 1992,1993 and1994 To watch the ZR-1's being built and all the ones I saw come off the assembly line had dual tipped mufflers. Rectangular mufflers Outlets are listed with GM for (LT1's) only. Hope you held onto the stock exhaust it's gonna be worth money. I would love to see your VIN and check the rpo codes.

92 White, White #0448.
I bought it dead stock with 18k miles from the original owner. Still had the original gatorbacks on it.

Then were on the same page. I bought mine with 9,000 miles on it. The original owner already put rectangular LT1 muffler eliminators on it. I also have my original gy gator back tires with 9,000 miles on them.

I believe, starting in 92, all C4s including ZR-1s wer fitted with black rectangular exhaust tips. My 94 had rectangular tips from factory.

Yes rectangular outlet mufflers started in 1992 on c4's (LT1's) but according to general motors corporation they were never put on a LT5's And there's no documentation in the general motors parts catalog that says different.

I definitely respect all the knowledge in these forums and mean zero disrespect in this post. This is what I've seen and read:
Regular C4s:
- '84s had downturned exhaust, two circular tips per muffler
- '85-'91 had straight out the back, two circular tips per muffler
- '92-'96 had rectangular tips, one per side; incidentally, 4th gen Z28s had the same-shaped tips, '93-'02
ZR-1s:
- '89 prototypes had two square tips per side
- '90-'91 had two square tips per side
- '92-'95 had rectangular tips, one per side
The most interesting thing I've observed... I have a '96 LT4 I bought completely stock, and a '95 ZR-1 that is still all stock (5900 miles)... the ZR-1 exhaust (mine at least, and other rectangular ZR-1s I've seen)... is at a bit of an angle on each side. It's very slight, but noticeable. At first I thought mine was bent, until I looked at other ones more closely and saw a local '93 in person as well. Really weird compared to the stock exhaust on my '96! I have not, however, measured the widths of the LT1/4 vs. ZR-1 rectangular tips. They may be the same, and I wonder if the slight angle of the ZR-1 tips was to make them appear to fit the wider rear end better.

I've been a ZR-1 owner for 20 years now.
Every last 1992 through 1995 ZR-1 I've ever seen has had the square tips.
I like them so much that someday I plan to cut the oval tips off of the Flowmasters I have on my Z and weld on the square tips.
I love the sound of my Flowmasters, just have never liked their tips very much. They are way better than the stock 90-91 tips, but still not optimal.

Just to make sure that I'm correct. We're talking about (LT1) style Rectangle tip mufflers.. is that correct?20011

Here are my all original, stock mufflers on my 95 ZR-1. They come from the factory with rectangle tips. I?m not at home to show other proof of brochures etc. The later years did not have the dual square tips.

All 92-95 ZR-1's had the single rectangular (LT-1) style Semi flat black tip from the factory on each side.
The mufflers themselves on those years ZR-1's were somewhat more restrictive than the LT-1 spec mufflers which disappointingly, had a notably "healthier tone" than the ZR-1 stock muffler.

Well then, obviously the GM parts Catalog is a 100% wrong, Can anybody confirm if the square (LT1) mufflers are welded on??

I can vouch for the 93-95s being single welded on rectangular outlets. First, a picture of my 1993 stock exhaust hanging on my garage wall, removed to install a Corsa. Car was bought from the original owner in 1994. Second, a picture of a stock 1994 stock exhaust on the floor sent to me by its owner; I was contemplating buying it. Third, a picture of my 1995 with its stock exhaust. Car was bought from the second owner and was entirely stock when I got it. I first replaced the stock exhaust with a Corsa, then reinstalled the stock system and added electric cutouts in front of the rear mufflers. The fourth picture is of the reinstalled stock exhaust with cutouts slightly visible. --Bob

Not even close. 90/91 quad muffler tips were exclusive to ZR-1,92/95 all Corvettes had same tips.

Does anyone have the correct part numbers for the '92 ZR-1 mufflers with the rectangular tips? How about the part number for the resonator in '92? Warp Ten, any chance you could check the exhaust system you have hanging on your wall for reference?
