So, moving my shop to another shop here in Alabama. Old shop had enough room to store one of my two Corvettes in. New shop will not have the room (trying to lower my overhead) anyway, my home two car garage has my other car and my wife's Camry and she isn't giving up her space. My choices are limited but basically it's a 20x40 mini storage rental for $150 a month or a climate controlled mini-storage for 325 a month- which I have a hard time paying a car payment for storage. Rodents not withstanding, would my car be damaged (ie corrosion or tarnish) ect. from the non-climate controlled storage?

a 10x 20 will work for your car, sweat rain season were the floors will sweat isnt good, the cold temps are not too good but not a super harmful thing in my opinion

I'd put down something over the floor, rodent proof the place with cayenne pepper and mothballs and check once a month. I'm in the same spot but I've got a friend with a shop that's going to rent me space for 6 months.

I have a car capsule that I would put it in. I am just trying to avoid corrosion and tarnish. I would be in a 10x20 rental unit but I just hate doing that!

I had mine in a 10'X20' for 10 years here in Florida. Never had a problem with moisture seeping in from concrete floor. Humidity lower then outside due to it heating up so much inside during daytime. Never had rodent problem. Car was under car cover inside. The facility slabs had good plastic vapor barrier under them and they did regular pest control. I just wish I had the $18,000 back. I now have my own detached 2 1/2 car garage that is climate controlled. P.S. the car did not deteriorate while stored there. I also drove it every 2 or 3 weeks.

Are you sure about prioritizing the camry over a Z?

I love toyotas more than most and feel the camry will be fine outside LOL.

Or, try to shove 3 cars into a 2 car garage like i do. :o

So no tarnish or discoloration on items like alternator, metal fuel lines, exhaust under carrage like control arms etc.? Here in Alabama we get a lot of 100 degree days in the summer months. Thanks!

Not that I ever noticed but my Z had 150,000-180,000miles. We have our share of 100 degree days here in Jacksonville. My biggest problem was no electricity for battery tender and not allowed to work on car.

Sooo, my solution came yesterday. And yes, the money could have been better spent but about 20 miles down the road in Huntsville , AL a bunch a seri-professional road course drivers got together and refurbished a BIG climate controlled warehouse with 24 hour bio-lock feature garage. You can rent a space, you can rent a space with a 4 car lift- if you need two car storage but the cool thing is they have in house alignment machines a/c machines, tire balancers changers etc on site- free to use with membership. I took the next to last available space. Costly $400 with lift, $200 without. Money well spent for the times being. They have other locations too, all run by car guys. I am in phase one, they are working on pase two here in Huntsville right now. https://www.b2motorsports.com/services/storage/

Nice to hear you found a good place for your cars.

Thought I had my space, kinda got blown out of the water. I had settled on a private storage facility. As stated $190 month for a locked 10-20 ft space, that's perfect so I thought. It's $190 for the first 2 months then $450 for each additional month. The search goes on.
