Guys i just wanted to get your option on the replacement windshields that were done years back. My understanding is there was a new run of these done to replace the standard ZR1 windshields that were delaminating.
I'm looking at a car that has one of the replacement run windshields.
My understanding is these are much better than the factory and do not delaminate. Is that correct?
Does having the replacement Zr1 version affect the value at all VS having an original that might have slight delamination now and i assume will only get worse over time.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks,

I'm looking for a correct reproduction for my car too. Are they close to being released?

The windshields that were batch made about 10 years ago are fine as long as they survived shipping. If you are a NCRS guide, it will be a SMALL deduction. My understanding , and I am NOT part of the manufacturing process will be closer to the NCRS part# and printing. I am on the wait list too. Don't not buy a ZR-1 because of the windshield IMHO.

There is no "list". Once the windshields prove out ok, they will be offered by your local Safelite dealer.

Thanks,
I owned a replacement windshield that David Johnson coordinated several years ago. It was a great effort and end result but, there were differences from 'typical' as originally installed units.
I suspect the soon forthcoming windshields will be welcomed by our community and rightfully so. I am sure there will again be slight differences from typical. The good news is, the only people that will care are the NCRS/BG types. Everyone else will install their beautiful and clear windshields and continue enjoying their ZR-1.
Will the new examples have an impact on value? I suspect it will have a slightly negative impact to a NCRS/BG type enthusiast. Everyone else, it will probably have a positive impact.

Hi Mark - question - I'm assuming yes, but does NCRS dock points for delamination on an original windshield? I have been waiting a long time for a replacement, and am very anxious to get one. At least I will be able to see out of it! Here's mine, currently. This is the worst of the worst! Which would deduct the most points... my current windshield, or, a replacement that is as close to spec as possible like these reproductions? Maybe in the eye of the beholder/judge, etc.
Obviously, I won't care if mine were to be docked a few points, given what I currently have to work with!

NCRS does deduct for delam, commensurate with how much is present. I don't judge C4 within NCRS (I'm 68/69) but it's the same concept. Recently, NCRS changed its glass judging guidelines. With the change, an obvious reproduction receives a lesser deduction than before. The same is true for a battery.
With that being said, the new windshield will, most likely, receive only a minor deduction.

Thank you for this information. Mine will never be perfect because of the windshield. If it's going to get deducted points, I'd at least like to be able to see out of it!
