All,
We are in process of planning our maintenance seminar for Corvettes at Carlisle. As such, we are soliciting your input to see what topics you would like us to cover. Typically we demonstrate using a members (or our own) ZR-1. Also, if you have an issue you would like us to address on your ZR-1 during the event, reply below and we will discuss what we can do.
Regards,
Mark
To those that may be unaware of the limitless abilities of this group, this is one of the greatest benefits of Carlisle. In the years of my membership I have had Marc replace the ecm chip, Jim has pulled the plenum two separate times to locate and repair vacuum leaks and last year we replaced the sport seat bladders. These demonstrations alway draw a crowd so don?t be afraid to bring some tools and parts and this group can probably make it happen. Membership really does have its advantages!!

My headlight motors are bone stock. I bought the bushings and gears to replace them but havent gotten to them yet. If you guys are interested, Id be happy to offer up my car for the demo.

Mark, this might be a little too specific but I would like to see someone present something about tuning.

Both really great ideas. Keep them coming!
Headlight bushings should not be a problem, and I'll have to think about the tuning presentation / demonstration, as we'll need some A/V equipment - projector/screen/power. We may have a presentation from a prior Gathering that would be helpful. Note that it will not teach you how to become a great tuner, but at least provide an understanding of what's involved: the equipment needed, understanding how the ECM works, importance of your sensors and a few other considerations - I like the idea.

Mark

Wow, that's a great idea! The Tech 1 can do so much but many don't know how to operate it. There are also some other options for scanners. I have a Bosch OBD1300 that works on the ZR-1. I'm sure there are others that folks can share as well.

I wouldn't mind seeing this as this is a pending job for my Z as well.

Wouldn't mind seeing something on troubleshooting ABS. Mine has never worked right, so could be the demo car. Also, I have the Bosch manual for it ('89 - '92).

I would not mind to see a plenum pull. I know one day I will need to do it but I t would be great to see the experts do it.

I vote for Tech 1 training. I'll have to remember to bring mine.

Sounds like you need a Wazoo maintenance day. We could do the rear swap, clear/fix the codes and do the window sweep...you get the pizza:cheers:

I would like to see hood adjusted to front doors and front bumper and to get the correct gaps while opening and closing the hood works as should (ie. no one or both sides not closing or one or both latches not releasing.) . I have one that could use some fine tuning.

I know that the Tech 1A is hard to find and while we sure need training to use it to it's full potential, sure that others have other scanners that work as well. Marty from Contes, I believe Lewis uses another scanner. Have him bring it and show an alternative?

I have a Mastertech 3100 that actually takes the Tech 1 cartridge. I also have a Bosch OBD1300 which is a newer product but unfortunately recently discontinued by Bosch. You can still find them on eBay for a reasonable price. What does Lewis use?

I had taken note of what Lewis uses but can't put my hands on it. Perhaps Marty/Lewis will post up?

I recently confirmed I have a small leak in one of my refrigerant lines.
A small section of plastic tubing needs to be replaced (or patched? its small so either probably would work). Maybe the more useful bit of that process for everyone would be draining/recharging the refrigerant. I was going to wait until a larger maintenance item came along (or the next WAZOO day) before bothering with it. Honestly a small piece of FlexTape would probably stop it outright.
So potential 4 items from that:
Patching a line
Replacing a line
draining
recharging

Four basic items folks ask often.
1. Is my vacuum pump working?
2. Are my secondaries working?
3. How do I know if both my fuel pumps are working?
4. How can I find which plug wire or coil is bad?
Demonstrate the simple processes with the simple tools.

Steve, you need to be here to do the demo! Also a refresher on the seat bladder replacements. Hotel has a room left. We need to have a plenum pull in the hotel parking lot under the lights with an adult beverage in hand

I own a 95 that needs, I believe, to have the starter solenoid rebuilt as it exhibits the dreaded Does Not Start signs and symptoms. The CSS and starter relay check out okay. I am hesitant to pull the plenum to get at the starter to rebuild the solenoid. But, once pulled it makes sense to replace the vacuum lines and perhaps some other components as well. Therefore I will offer my ZR-1 as a demonstration vehicle if so desired.

Sorry Charlie, Not this year. Maybe next years I can do those basic plenum on trouble shoot procedures. Plenum pulls for me these days have to have car on quick jacks and front wheels off. Got to save what I can on lower back disc jelly.

Sorry to hear that Steve, take care of the back. We have a few that are going through back issues and no joy with that.

Are there specific times defined for the demos? Also, I could discuss how to modify and use the Apple AirTags to track your car.
