View Full Version : Speedo light on start up immediately goes out?

I only have my car about 2 months now and I have repaired everything that was not correct or that bother me. I notice that on start up in my garage the speedo light come on for a few seconds and goes out. Once I drive out of the garage into day light it goes back on! Shouldn't it be on all the time when the engine is running?
I also notice that now that I re-grounded both frame sensors the dash lights are a bit brighter and no longer blink!

I believe the dark LCD is normal on a 1990 LCD.. 1991-newer they changed how the backlighting works. I ended up swapping in a 1991 CCM to get the brighter backlight.

Marc Haibeck has another solution to the backlight for the 1990 as well

Spoke to Marc Haibeck today. Tells me its a common problem with the 90s. He wires in a diode in the line to lift the amount of dimming for in garage and tunnel driving . Or do-nothing since those are the only times it's dim. Jim
