So I really don't like the Analog gauge. I have wanted the digital gauge for my 1990 for Coolant at minimum. Well I made a solution using my LCD DIC. I also installed a 1991 CCM in my car to improve the LCD Cluster display lighting.

I drove the car yesterday with the roof off and had no issues seeing the LCD speedo with my sunglasses.. that was a win

my original layout for my screen was lacking in display size and colors.. here is a quick video clip of the stuff on the LCD DIC:

I can't tell in the video but I assume the splash logo goes to red when the key is on ???? Pretty slick

Do you have a post explaining the LCD DIC setup? I want to do this in my 1991

Thanks
Mike

What a damn cool solution! As I never saw or heard about this before - how did you realize this?

And is there an option to show the vehicle speed with a higher "frame rate"?
That lazy C4 speedo sucks...

found a few of your other posts on CF and very short videos, but not exactly sufficient detail for one to tackle this project in the same way. Sounds rather involved though, with a CCM swap, cluster swap, lcd display, home-developed software, etc.

inquiring minds would like to know if you have any intent to document a how-to or sell a DIY kit?

Yes Key on Red, Key off White or Amber ( depending on the interior lettering color

I did a bunch of work and had some help for some of the info I display. I doubt the refresh rate is faster though

You don't need a CCM swap, you don't need the cluster swap. This will replace the DIC light display with an LCD. I have not posted too much because the screen I am using is not easy to find and it is not very bright/readable in direct sunlight. I have ordered a new display and once I get it and get it setup I may get a good list together of what is needed. I have also printed two different 3D parts for mounting. I will get details soon enough once I prove it out a bit more..

Well that would be awesome!

for those following.. my solution uses 2 Arduinos the screen and a few parts..

I am 220 in parts not including the OEM DIC connector I have yet to source outside of getting from a current Info Center.

That also does not include the 3D parts I made for this..

this assumes the new screen works well
