View Full Version : '95 Blk/Gray...deal or no deal?

Guys,
I thought I had struck a deal to buy the Black/Gray 95 that is listed on the net classifieds. The one with 59 original miles. Anyway, the gentlemen is in Canada (not Alabama, as the ad says), and agreed to sell me the car. I had to work out the details on customs and transportation before we could pick a date. Now he disappears, and won't return my calls or emails. Its been three weeks.

I am asking if anybody here has spoken to the guy recently? No hard feelings toward anyone, if they have purchased the car. I just would like to know one way or another so I can continue my search.

** UPDATE - 6/16/2007: The gentleman has now contacted me. He has been out of town unexpectedly, and unable to return my calls. Hopefully we can consumate the deal soon.**

Todd,

I sent him an email about a 10 days ago. I did not get a reply. I just thought that the car had been sold. That's when I contacted you about what you had gotten. You never know--give it a few days. That car has been up for sale for about five years. I think his AL is Alberta (?).

Well Todd, it does look like a nice example of a ZR-1 with 59 original miles on it. Assuming he really wants to sell it I'd think he would be returning your emails as $50k would be a decent price in the current market.
Keep us informed and good luck.

Todd,

I am 'new' to the sight, read your Email and kinda thought this is crappy...

I am from Alberta Canada and am planning to buy a ZR-1 unfortunately probably not until the new year though, and things like this taint things for all of us.

I took that guys phone number and reverse entered into www.canada411.ca (http://www.canada411.ca) phone directory and this is what pops up:

R & C McLeod
70 Third Ave
Manitowaning, ON

Find Neighbors (http://findaperson.canada-411.ca/14990/track/10126/search/FindNeighbors?search_id=40071392705741644412&element_id=0)

It appears the person is from Ontario, a little suspect as Ted had pointed out he registered it as (AL). This probably does not help but I sure hope it is nothing more than dropped communication or something like that.

Good luck and as you said thank goodness money did not exchange,
Doug

Thanks for that, Doug. I was trying to get the address myself with no luck.

If you've ever used the 'net for sale listings, Canada provinces are not available in the form. Therefore, I think he used the first one on the list (ALabama).

Just for info, Manitowaning is a small town on Manitoulin Island, a couple of hours from me. So if you need anything checking out, just let me know and I'll be glad to help if I can.

If there's a ZR-1 (especially a 95) there though I'd be very surprised. As far as I know mine is the only one in Northern Ontario.

Ted,
Curious about that. Have you seen this one for sale before? Pretty rare car, 1 of 5 Blk/Gry and an export car.

Todd,

I follow '95s fairly close. This car has been for sale on the ZR-1 net before--at least once. I too share a love for the black/grey cars. I am looking for a black car with anything other than black interior or a dark red car or a stroker. I have a decent memory on a lot of the '95 cars.

The gentleman contacted me as well regarding an inquiry I made for our members as to whether it was still for sale. He responded back that he needs some time to deal with important issues that are consuming his attention/time. He is considering holding off on selling it due to his other concerns and will decide within a week whether to remove the listing.

My suggestion to anyone interested in buying his ZR-1 is to empathize and be patient. Hopefully it will pay dividends if and when he decides to sell it.
