The first 2 oil changes I did on my ZR-1 were with Mobil 1 high mileage. I knew the ZDDP content of the oil wasn't what it used to be, so I started looking for an alternative. I spoke with Driven Racing Oils and was pointed towards their GP-1 line. They don't advertise specific ZDDP content, but claim:

"...A high zinc (ZDDP) content that has been engineered and tested to deliver increased horsepower and engine wear protection under high load....Pennsylvania grade base oil compounded with select synthetic components provide a higher Pressure-Viscosity Coefficient for excellent High Temperature-High Shear (HTHS) stability for increased film thickness, combined with Driven's ZDDP additive package GP-1 delivers a synergetic chemical balance producing enhanced wear protection."

Lots of marketing talk. I just wanted increased ZDDP content, but not too high to be catalyst unsafe. I've been using it the last 3 years and finally decided to to an oil analysis through Blackstone Labs. These were the results on 10w-30.

Phosphorus = 1078 ppm
Zinc = 1192 ppm

I believe we are shooting for about 1200.

From their online brochure. I buy 10/30 on Amazon.

PENNGRADE 1 HIGH-PERFORMANCE OILS
? Typical 1500 Zinc with 1400 PPM Phosphorus.
? Formulated to reduce internal friction and increase horsepower while providing superior wear, shock load and thermal protection.
? High-performance formulations also possess good antifoaming and shear stability characteristics.

I believe we are shooting for about 1200.

That was the number I had in mind. The "Modern Motor Oil and the LT5 Engine" article by Haibeck said the old Mobil 1 High Mileage was acceptable at 1100. I'm okay with the 1192 results. I didn't go with his recommendation of Amsoil simply because of a bad prior experience with a distributor.
