I'm not really sure if this mod adds any real power to these already impressive cars, but I've always liked the look of these intakes.... if you can find one
Is anyone out there making anything like this anymore? Anyone have one collecting dust somewhere? I wish I had the tools to reproduce these but I wouldn't know where to start.

For sure! I believe that was the one designed by Marc Coplan. I should have bought one of those way back in the day.

I agree with you both. I'd love to have either, or even both:thumbsup:

There was a guy on Registry FB that was selling the CF one and full of crap doing auction style and never answered or said who ended up with it. Totally asswipe. I guess he changed his mind despite offers to $600+.

Yeah, the guy did not even have the decency to say sold or cancelled sale. Or to give an idea of what the bid was at so people could offer more. He should have just gave a price or put it on EBay for a fair auction. I wanted to put it on the car, not on the shelf. As you know I have some carbon fiber pieces and that would have went well my build.

Yep, that's the one... what a great looking design! When I looked up under the car, it seems the reversed air lid is the way to go

It a nice piece for sure. It seems like all of the possibilities do not do much for performance and mostly for looks, but this one I do like regardless. I know LocoBob ran some dyno testing on various air boxes with hardly any difference between them.
I agree with you about getting cooler air has to be beneficial compared to the stock design of sucking in hot engine compartment air.

I 'am using the stock air filter assembly warped in DEL cool tape with the hole
in front bumper from the A/O engineering. I also have the bubble warp
aluminum between the filter housing and radiator housing. It is not glued
down but sandwiched between them. That alone will help reduce hot air
reaching the lower side of the filter.

You are welcome Daryll. It is the only one that I like of our options.
BTW, my quest for the Cragar key was a bust after buying two possibilities. Thanks again for your help.

That is some great ingenuity and anything to help the air to be cooler is a great improvement.

Here is the ZR-1 Splash front plate I modified to feed air into the stock air
filter housing. The hole in the front bumper was made for the A/O Engineering
cold air setup. I removed that and modified the opening to feed air straight
into the air filter. The ZR-1 Splash front plate was cut out to let air thru and
a black plastic screen installed to stop paper, small birds, etc from getting into
the filter. I still have a number of the ZR-1's Splash plate filler for the 1990
and 1991 thru 1995 for sale PM me for more information.
