I want to repaint the underside of the hood and was wondering what paint to use. Flat black or something else. The previous owner let the shocks get bad and the top of the engine was hitting the hood.

I had that on my '93 from when it was six months old, though not a bad as yours. It was hitting the top of the accordion intake. For much of the time I just used Magic Marker to hide it a bit but then just used a little generic satin black touch up paint. Never did fill in the little gouges. I don't recall actually having that problem on the '95 but it is possible. --Bob

You want a catalyzed satin black shot out of a gun.

Usually marks like that happen when the strap on the air bridge is upside down but never that many in a row maybe someone left something on top of the motor and closed the hood. A flat black usually matches pretty close

Mine was rubbing too. Because of phenolic spacers (1/4?)under the plenum we put in 25 yrs ago, and the stainless Coplon insert in the accordion intake.
Just one more thing GM could have done to make the car look special. They had the hood, (check out the bump they put on the Active Suspension ZR-1). It has a beautiful shape that gives extra clearance, yet doesn?t restrict vision at all at the windshield.
Somebody, copy that hood please. Let that puppy breathe!

I use Testor's flat black spray for plastic models. A bit too flat at the beginning but blends in with time.
