#2456 is obviously just a single data point and we know there were many running changes throughout the 6 year run and even during a particular model year.
Since I found this car in such an original state, I thought I would post shots of components that NCRS geeks, and others, might find interesting.
This vehicle is on Marc Haibeck's arrival list and he estimates 8 weeks so, I have a lot of cleaning and documenting to do prior to Marc's work.
Since it has not been started in 31 years, I removed the center spoiler so a winch could be used.

The rear hatch strut supports are both products of Gas Spring Co. 10107975 & 976 are both dated the 96th day of 1990 and the car is a June 1990 build so, those numbers align well.

I find it amazing how often cars are left then found in this condition.
The ones that I have fostered / adopted were at least covered before being stashed away.
While I share your excitement in finding and resurrecting it, I also have equally strong feelings about those who let it sit that way without even a cover for 30 years.
Look forward to seeing the end result.
One suggestion.
After sitting so long covered with either a cover or cover of dust, try yo keep it out of direct sunlight.
I have had half a dozen where the windshields looked fine when first cleaned, but when sitting in the sunnier spots within the showroom, delam quickly followed.
The side closest to the windows / sunlight experienced the most rapid onset.
Do not think it was heat related, as some of the cars were in public storage that certainly became hot in the summer, but no delam present until the bright light was added.
Again, photos of your progress likely would be of interest to many.
Enjoy the pursuit!

It is in a climate controlled garage and out of the sun. It's on the list to go to Haibeck but, otherwise, it won't leave the house.
Good suggestions👍

GREAT pictures!!!
INTERESTING!!!
Puzzled about the top.
The masking tape was done at the factory, and should match the last numbers of VIN.
They should be stamped on the roof frame as well.
If the stamped number equals the VIN that would be good, but still would not explain the 470 on the tape.
Switched / mismatched at dealer perhaps??
Thanks for sharing the pictures with the progress!!

I've searched for the VIN on the plexi top. Obviously not looking in the proper area.
I have another 90 with two tops (44 miles) and I found the VIN. The other 90 has different markings, if I remember correctly. I'll wonder down stairs and get a shot of it, later.
I tried to make sense of the # on the tape but am just going to leave well enough alone. Several pieces of old masking tape in the car. I'm trying not to disturb what's there.

Marty,
The glass top for my '90 has that piece of masking tape on it also. Written on the tape is "987". The number of my car is "0442" and the "0442" is also stamped in the frame of the glass top in the proper place. I've often wondered why the masking tape was there and why is was marked as it is.

If either of you have the build sheet, perhaps it is the sequence number of the build.
Later cars seem to match.
Perhaps 90 was different?
Will refer to a C-4 NCRS Judge to see if they have any insight.

Great to see the AC Spark Plug markings.

Marty,
The build sheet may have been the clue!!
As previously posted, my car is '90 #0442. The masking tape on the front of the glass top has 987 written on it and the glass top is properly stamped with the car's VIN.
On the build sheet in space #10, top left corner has :
SCHED.NO.DATE 014987.
Notice the last 3 numbers match the masking tape.
On the build sheet in space #24, top right corner has:
DP.SEQ.NO. 05829(space)014987
From this info I would surmise that the tape was marked to correspond with sequence number, not the vehicles VIN.
Mark, have not had a chance to get my glass top out, but will soon and document the info at rear center of the top.

Spare tire has the number 70 written on it as does the underbody fiberglass just forward of the carrier. Wheel stamp indicates a Kelsey wheel from the plant designated 1 with a date of May 14, 1990. Wheel designation is XDX.
***add/edit***
I've determined the 70, written on many areas of the car, is a derivative of the 470 written on the clear top. This matches the build sequence in boxes 10 & 24 of the build manifest.
I went to my other low mile ZR-1 and discovered it has 5600 written on the underbody fiberglass. That corresponds to boxes 10 & 24 on that car. (See pic at bottom of this post)

Some great documentation Mark, and a really time capsule. Your pictures here are going to give me a good starting point to document what still remains on #941 after 21k miles.
A couple additional tags I have found on my car were on the MAP and FPR hoses, there are skinny white PN tags attached.

Marty
Marty,
I had the same concern on my 90 #277 where the masking tape is 873. Checked the VIN stamp on frame of clear roof and it matches to car. The tape sticker should match the Build Sequence Number as it does on my car.
Hope this helps.

The interior of this ol' heap is back to day one. The chassis and the motor box are each 90% cleaned and the exterior is scheduled for a detail by the end of July. After that, just waiting on a call from Marc Haibeck.
I've enjoyed the rescue👍

I'm going to make a run to Haibeck Automotive, next week. All the fluids have been changed and a few electrical gremlins were removed. The 32 year old gas was removed and the tank was cleaned. The sending unit was destroyed by rust but, I supplied an original in excellent condition that he used along with new Delphi pumps. A new fuel filter has been installed. The injectors are not flowing so, they will be removed and cleaned.
Progress is being made.

Original fuel injectors could not be cleaned to work properly. Putting in a set of FIC which look very correct. Sending originals to FIC to be 're-cored'
Marc said original plenum gaskets are good and can be re-used.

Spoke to Marc, today...what a pleasant, accommodating fellow! In the next couple days, the old car will start and run for the first time in 32 years. He expects no problems.
After that, the new lumbar bladders will be installed and the stereo system will be returned to new.
It has been such an excellent experience dealing with the guru from Chicagoland!

Yesterday, #2456 ran for 1 hour with zero issues. The original sparkplugs were "like new" after a cleaning. The A/C works although a more comprehensive measure of A/C performance will be completed, next week. Seat bladders were replaced along with the seat back tilt worm gear in each seat.
Other than measure AC performance, the re-installation of the speaker amplifiers and the repair of the headlight motor gear cases are all that's left.

Time to bring this thread to an end. Got the car back, today, from Haibeck's and it runs perfectly. Just as satisfying is, all the systems function as intended, including the seat bladders and stereo system.
Since the car has only traveled 62 miles in the last 32 years, I'll keep it as a time capsule. The next caretaker can do as they wish. In the meantime, it'll be kept in an excellent environment and started regularly. I hope to do the occasional NCRS/Bloomington type outings. Thanks for following along...

Out of curiosity, did Marc take any pictures of the seat bladders when he changed them? Just wondering if they look like the rest of them even after no driving (basically turning into dust kinda like the headlamp nylon bushings)? BTW it looks great!
