A few weeks ago I was able to purchase my dream car, a 1992 ZR-1 #145. She is Polo Green with 43k miles. I'm in the process of getting things sorted out, cleaned and fixed. Since I'm in IL, I've already been to Haibeck Automotive Technology for an inspection. I've made plans to bring her back to Marc and Bob when they are ready.

In the meantime, I wanted to introduce myself and post a couple pictures.

Welcome and your very fortunate to live near Marc and Bob. They will keep that beautiful car of yours running perfectly. Looking forward to meeting you on one of the next get togethers. In the meantime, enjoy!

I was in awe there. As Marc looked over the car, it was a thrill to see him call out each thing that was out of sort. I was able to correct a few of them already to get that busy work out of their way

I did get some deep cleaning done while I was replacing wheel hubs, ball joints and pads/rotors a weekend ago. I have to say that using videos posted on YouTube from Chris at My Corvette Life were very helpful. https://www.youtube.com/c/chrisdraper2007/featured

Glad to be part of the forums! I'll do my best to share cool things and experiences.

Grats! Beautiful car...I'm partial to 92 ;-)

It's great you're so close to Marc. I just got my car back to FL from Marc's shop Friday night. He replaced the injectors, installed his chip, and fixed a host of other problems with the car. Now running amazing well. I also had Marc do his "Engine Refinishing". All I can do is keep staring at the (even more awesome) motor.

I retired last March I'm planning to finally attend the Gathering and Corvettes at Carlisle. I see Marc has an annual picnic too...I'll have to fish for an invite ;-) Hope to meet you at one of those events!

I saw yours when I was there and it's the most Florida color ever for a ZR-1, BEAUTIFUL. I've been trying to move south for a couple years now but we are anchored in here at the moment. Can't wait to attend these events I'm hearing about. I could talk Corvettes forever!

Great to have another ZR-1 from Illinois, especially one that looks exactly like my dearly departed 1995 (#409). Good thinking to take it up to Marc and Bob for a look over. From when I purchased my first ZR-1 in 1994 they both have gone to Haibeck for service and mods. When I got my '95 in 2012 it went straight to Marc for him to got through it thoroughly, change fluids and anything else it needed (serp belt was on a couple of threads). He found issues I would never have even thought to ask about, including an old hidden alarm system that he removed for me. When there I had him add a Hurst short shifter, 4.10 gears and a Corsa exhaust--great improvements to a great car. But be careful-you will eventually want more. The next year I had him do his 510 HP package. It was a really great car then! When Spring arrives, the next time we have an FBI gathering at Shoeless Joe's Pizza in Itasca you will have to come up. (FBI: Fast Boys of Illinois).--Bob

Wow, really appreciate the welcome everyone

Bob, he knew I had the wrong serpentine belt by looking at it, a front suspension bar was upside down, etc. etc. etc. What I really saw was how much they both put in to the cars there. Looking forward to when mine gets the call when they are ready (oh and there is a lissssssstttttt). I'm sure it'll be ready for the Shoeless Joe's Pizza this spring.

Ah, the list! Patience will be rewarded. I was put on the list in early May and Marc indicated I was 4-6 weeks out. I got "the call" in September :)

I didn't mind the wait at all...in fact, I took it as an indicator that he took his time to fix our cars correctly. Once my car got to his shop, I never had any sense that there was a time pressure to get my car out so the next one could get in. So rare these days!

HAHAHA I reread what I had posted and the list I was talking about was not the wait list..... it was my TO DO list for them.

I'm telling you I was in ZR-1 heaven when I was there. They could tell me 6-12 months and it would be worth the wait.

Welcome to the Illinois family of ZR-1 owners!

That is a beautiful car!

I am counting the days until the next "Marc-acue" at his shop.

Looking forward to seeing your car in person.

Welcome to the "Madness" that is ZR-1! Marc is great to work with, and I have had three ZR-1's and he has had all three of them in his shop. I live in Michigan and gladly drive the four and a half hours to his place, for repairs/maintenance, etc. While I'm there, I get to see other people's cars and find out what he is working on. Hope to meet you at one of the events.

Welcome to the Brotherhood! And, case nobody told ya, your in the middle of "FBI" (aka Fast Boyz of Illinoiz) territory! The group consists of ~ 16? ZR-1s in the immediate Chicagoland area that gets together in the driving months, several times for pizza nites and occasional road trips and drag racing!

Nested in the FBI are several very talented members. IN addition to Marc, there is Pete Polatsidis and Dominic Sorrenso and Bob Gillig and Jeff Debur (among others) that offer considerable contribution to the ZR-1 community!

Send me a PM and I'll see that your email gets on the mailing list for coming FBI events!

Paul.

Welcome to the fun!! I too am partial to the 92's, with #501 in the garage. No need for an invite to Haibeck's BBQ, its open. I picked my car up from him during the BBQ, great fun event with lots of gorgeous cars!

Don't forget one member has a Z06 but retains all of his knowledge and wisdom from owning ZR-1s. Well, at least some of it. Certainly a little. Oh well, what was I thinking about just now? At least there is the camaraderie...--Bob
