Sports Car Market magazine (which covers all auctions and generally interesting cars) has a page with Buy/Sell/Hold recommendations. I have never seen C4 ZR-1s mentioned there except this month, when they recommended a Hold on them. Would be nice to see a Buy recommendation, but this is a good start. --Bob

Amen, anyone notice interesting similarities between c4 zr-1 and c8 z06 in today?s reveal.
Widened body to accommodate massive rubber, hand built quad cam ohv naturally aspirated engine designed from scratch and designated lt6, and putting the super car world on notice. All sounds a lot like the press in 1989 for the zr-1.

I loved that later in the day someone on one of the sites said, "the starter is inside the block, you will have to remove the plenum to get to it".

Is the LT6 derived from the Cadillac DOHC Darkwing?

The BW DOHC motor was scrapped. The LT6 is completely, totally different and as Warp Ten?s post suggests, now people want to link the LT6 to the Corvette?s only other example of a world class DOHC motor, the LT5. Finally!

There's just another recent appreciation by Hagarty: https://www.hagerty.com/media/lists/according-to-you-undervalued-vehicles-you-can-enjoy-cheap/

Considering the performance figures and features of even a standard 91+ C4 (compared to what else was in the market these days) I will never understand why people freak out on cheap-*** Vipers and pay top dollars for Nissan, Acura and Honda vehicles instead of spending their hard earned money for a ZR-1 - an engineering gem that provides loads of performance, truly acceptable build quality, legendary endurance and great features (FX3, Bose, targa roof, A/C, etc.) at the cheapest running cost that ANY super sportswear ever had (and will have). So, what's the point? It's a no brainer.

Matt,

Assume you meant super sportsCAR right? And yes, it is an amazing bargain. Still so much fun to drive. Love it when the MB and BMW see a C4 ?hanging? w them on the Interstates.

Hahaha, that's what happens when you PC thinks it's smarter than you :D. You are correct, we're still speaking about cars. But as it fits like a glove or tailored suit... Maybe we can even consider it as sportsWEAR, hahaha.

Same here, I don't know exactly WHY, but Porsche drivers seem to be overly challenged by the sheer presence of a ZR-1 (or possibly any Corvette). Just recently a poor guy in an older Boxter took the challenge I never opened, nearly hit my rear bumper (I was cruising at about 60 miles and listening to my LT-5) and then tried to pass me like crazy. Well... He didn't even make it up to my B-Pillar, hahaha. So funny.

In its own way the ZR-1 is a sleeper as everyone here expects it to be a lame duck with a huge but weak engine (German prejudice...). Nice when they find out how wrong they were.
