View Full Version : Anyone Know What This Part Is?
My mechanic discovered I have a vacuum leak. A connector that isn't sealing properly. He said:
"Yes you can access it fairly easily, it is the rectangular silicone coupler with 2 inlets and 2 outlets to the left rear of the throttle body below the upper plenum. Not much room to tape it up, I tried placing piece of rubber between one of the hoses and the lower plenum to force it to fit better. Made things worse. "
Any thoughts?

Sounds like the dual vacuum connector that the 90 cars have.
This is an excerpt from Marc's vacuum leak article.

Thanks!
Is that something reasonably easy to get at? Or, like with every other thing on this car, you have to pull the plenum? :)

You might be able to slip on the two new hoses with the plenum on, but it would be much easier with the plenum off.

Hah! Turns out I did order one from you last year, as there was a leak there previously. Perhaps last idiot mechanic screwed it up on installation, or never actually replaced it? Are any of the lines connected to it known to fail?

I am not aware of any of the pipes failing per se, but they do need to be straight to make the most effective seal. If the pipes have been bent previously to use 2 pieces of hose (before we had the Connector manufactured), then they should be carefully straightened to be parallel with each other.

Putting my order together now. Already added that, plus a backup set of plenum gaskets. You should actually just automatically include a set of plenum gaskets every time someone orders. Always need a backup set with a ZR-1. :)
Doesn?t look totally straight to me. Thoughts?
btw, what should I remove to make this thing easiest to access?
