1991 ZR-1.

SRC light came on after I had the fuel pump replaced. Likely unrelated, but just in case.

Checked the error codes, and it threw a 33. From what I understand, that's the Left Rear actuator.

Bought a new $200 actuator from Corvette Central. Replaced it and when I shook the old one, it rattled. New one did not. So assumed something was broken in the old actuator.

Put it all together, tried the C/A 2 seconds 3 times thing and the damn error 33 still comes up. Disconnected battery for 15 minutes. No luck.

Now I wish I had tested the new actuator by watching to see if it spun before I installed it, but I did not.

What am I missing? For now I'm so frustrated I just unplugged the SRC module in the trunk to turn the light off.

HELP!

Sorry I just woke up in case this is a dumb question. Did you clear the code 33? If not, it will keep showing up and will not clear itself.

Could you also have someone turn on the ignition for you while you are at the actuator to feel or hear it reset?

I tried many times to clear it by jumping the A and C for two seconds at a time, three times. Won't clear.

I can hear it moving when I turn on the ignition.

Hmmm?sorry I can be of more help; it has been awhile.

That?s a good sign you can hear it.

Did you try to drive it yet?

Did you adjust the top nut of the shock no more than 1.5 threads down before putting the actuator on? I suspect it's timing out because the actuator ride height is wrong.

This probably is your issue. I struggled with an actuator code for about a year, the shop messed with it a couples times and it always came back. What it turned out to be the top nut was too loose. There is a spec in the manual I think it says a minimum of 5mm clearance, Mine was at 3.5 on one side. After making that adjustment I never got the code again.

OK just to close this out.... I took the shock back off and the gear turned in both directions with no stops. So the actuator was not able orient itself I guess.

Put on a used shock I got off eBay and all is well. Didn't even have to clear the code 34.

I probably wasted $200 on a new actuator I didn't need, but I'll justify it by listening to the rattle in the old one. If if nothing else, I guess I have an extra.

Thanks again to all for the tips!
