View Full Version : Suggestion Poll for our Forum
Just got back from the BG Gathering and, like the others there, I had a great time seeing old friends and meeting new ones. One of the things I regret is not being able to remember everyones name and being able to associate the face with the forum name and real name. I know I'm getting old, but reading the other gathering threads tells me I'm not the only one having trouble remembering.
I think it would strengthen our group if we had an aid/tool here at the Registry to help with that issue. It would help us to correspond and develop new friendships easier if we weren't hindered by being embarassed not remembering the name of someone we recently met.
As such, I'm making a suggestion and conducting this poll to see what the opinion of our membership is regarding the following:
On a voluntary basis, in the Members Only section, create a database with a photo of the member, with forum name and real name. The real name could even be reduced to just the first name. Please vote your opinion.
It's up to us to keep our organization alive and growing. Please make you opinion known so that our leaders can make a decision that represents the members. Thanks for your poll response.
In the meantime, completed profiles would be a step in the right direction.:-D

I should have thought to bring my Net Reg nametag. I too have a hard time remembering names until I call someone by it several times.

Jerry,
I agree and have posted to this ffect several times. I don't know why a lot of folks don't put their information on the profile. Mines there.

I still keep and use a "LT5 Registry" directory dated June 2001.
There are no pics, but every member is listed by state. Listing includes:
Name, member #
City,State
Phone #
Year/Vin # color/color
I would pay towards a new, updated directory........ even if it included pics of
some of you mugs......

Great idea!!! Except for those wanted by the law, pictures and both names is big help as we get to the gatherings and just exchange junk.
Also anyone having a forum only name should add it in case!

Okay, I'm old & senile and I can't remember chit sometimes...so I guess I'll go back & vote "Yes". I'm so forgetful I keep my Registry badge in my console....but I always forget to put it on because I forget it's in the console!:o
Seriously though, if the profiles were filled out wouldn't that resolve most of this or is this new data gonna be password protected so only members can read it? See I'm also not P/C literate!:o

Tom,
I understand your concern, that's why I suggested that it be placed in the Members only section or that it be enabled to members through the profile by using the Members-Only password.
Filling out the profile is good, there's just no place for a picture. I can remember the face of the person, I just don't remember the name that goes with it so well sometimes.
I can identify with the name badge scenario....:sign10:

Hi Jerry!:hello:
I'm down for that......except it wont help me because I'll have to make flash cards so I can remember the names that go with faces...and then I'll have to put the flash cards in the Z's console along with the badge that I keep forgetting!
Hey Tom, do you forget that your badge is in the console too!? I was at a car show last week in Paramus, NJ. I was walking around and thinking "as usual my Z is the only one out" and I stumbled upon five other Z's! I was wishing that I had brought my badge with me only to have found it later when I was cleaning up the car after a day of playing with my toy!:sign10:

Never had the pleasure of meeting him, Kieth. I'm sure I would have remembered meeting some one with the name of Wolfgang....even with my lousey memory:mrgreen:
That Sunday in NJ at that show I only encountered two other owners, one a black 90 and a black 91, the other owners were off looking at all the fine hot rods that were at the show. Us Z's were out numbered by C6/ZO6's...man them cars look sweet in the flesh.
