Today is "Suspension inspection Saturday!"

After being on the road for 2 weeks, today is the first chance I will have to look at my 91 suspension. In another post, I asked about popping noises on first gear take off ( not burn outs) so I'll be looking at U Joints, bushings, shock bolts etc....

It is raining in North Texas so my buddy (he has a 68 Corvette with a FI 396 small block- stupid fast) will give me a hand. There will be beer and pizza involved so it will be a great afternoon!

So, while under the car doing a general inspection is there anything else I need to look at? I will have the car up on all four jacks so getting at things will be pretty easy. I'd appreciate any tips on anything commonly over looked that I should double check.

Thanks!

Bill, my 30,000 mile '95 (owned 2012 to 2016) had a popping noise or a clunk in the rear, especially when backing out of my slightly inclined driveway. Marc looked it over and said all the bushings looked OK but said sometimes appearance is not the main thing, as sometimes the bushings get hard but don't look bad. He replaced the rear sway bar bushings and the noise went away and never returned. He said they were rock hard and were difficult to get out as I recall. --Bob

Thanks Bob- I took your advice and removed the bushings and they all look good but dry, but I put some lube on them anyway. Hopefully I'll have some luck!

The inspection showed that everything was in good order with the possibility of the driver side front wheel bearing. It really was not that bad and it could be imagination.

With that in mind, I might go ahead and do some preventative maintenance. Can anyone offer the correct front wheel bearings that I should get? It look like there is a speed sensor cable on the one I need?

Thanks!
