I've been looking for a set of wheels for the '90. The A-molds have always appealed to me, so I wanted something that paid homage to the clean 5 spoke design. After considering Fiske, Forgeline, CCW, and HRE I ultimately settled on BC Forged. Why them? Features for price was the main factor. Their wheels are manufactured in Taiwan which reduces production cost. I fully support made in America products, but I did have a budget to consider.

BC Forged wheels are 6061-T6 aluminum that are JWL & VIA double certified. Numerous finish options are at no extra charge as is customization of the pad profile & spoke concavity. The process began with an email inquiry to BC Forged. An employee by the name of Dan followed up and has been great to work with. Dan had worked with Matt from the "OffTheRanch" YouTube channel for his ZR-1 wheels, so he was familiar with fitment on the car. With that said, I was still sent a worksheet to measure caliper clearance on the front of the car. My wheel choice wasn't the same as the YouTuber's nor was the size.

After Dan confirmed my wheel choice & size would fit the car, a 2D profile image was sent to me. We had previously discussed pad profile, concavity, and offset and Dan nailed it on the first try. I wanted the pad profile to be even front-to-rear with a deep concave spoke in the rear.

I gave the go ahead 5 weeks ago. 1/2 the purchase price was charged at that time. Today I received the finished photos. I approved, the final 1/2 was charged, and the wheels will be shipped on Monday. These are the RT50 in brushed clearcoat finish. 17 x 9.5" in the front with 18 x11.5" in the rear. Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires will be mounted. OE size in the front and 335/30R18 in the rear. I will post follow-up details on wheel/tire weights once the wheels arrive.

Nice looking wheel. You made a smart choice buy NOT choosing HRE,what was once the finest wheel made is now just another wheel company. Check out HRE WILZ SUK on Facebook and yes,I'm still pissed!

I had seen some questionable situations with HRE recently. BC Forged has a good reputation so I was comfortable buying from them.

Once the wheels arrive I will post more pics along with wheel weights. It maybe a little while until I get them mounted on the car.

What did the offsets workout to be? I assume same as stock on fronts?

Fronts are same as stock. The rears are +41.

I made a cardboard template that matched the profile of the sidewall and the flange of the wheel. The closet item was the brake line. The template had to be trimmed to 0.9" to clear. The +41 offset on the 11.5" puts near all of the extra 0.5" towards the inside. A +40 or +39 would have bought a little more clearance, but I didn't want the wheels to "poke" out.

Nice! I am trying to figure out what offset I need to run 11-12?s wide up front. Since they sometimes split the difference on the wheel it makes the stock backspacing around a +30. At least thst is what work wheels told me. I figured I could get away with a +30 in the rear going 11-12 as well.

That was quick! The wheels shipped from Taiwan on Monday and arrived in Virginia on Friday. They were packaged extremely well & no damage to the boxes so UPS handled them carefully. According to my bathroom scale, the fronts weigh 18.6 lbs and the the rears 22.2 lbs. It will be at least another week until I can get the tires mounted.

Consider getting a set of lug guides if you do not already have a set. As recommended by Robert D (cvette98pacecar) and Tom M (Roadster); these are the bomb to protect wheels, calipers, and your back.

I?ve never considered these before but thanks for posting these. Considering my wheel and brake package on the Callaway costs as much as a low mileage C5, I?m going to have to pick up a set of 5.

Hello Bowtiguy,
Three wheel hangers will work just fine I completely understand your concern I have the same concern with my 2013 Z and the three hangers work out great.

I test fit the LR wheel earlier this week. There was around 1" clearance to the brake line with the suspension sagging and the gap would increase slightly with the car on the ground. Continental lists the rim width for the 335/30R18 at 11.5" to 12.5" so the tires would bulge slightly, but not enough to close the gap to an unsafe distance

I got the tires mounted Friday and am very impressed with the results. One took 20g to balance, two took 10g, and the last wheel took zero. The rears came in at 54.0 lbs compared to 59.4 lbs (including TPMS) for the OE with Nitto NT555 G2. I'm going to ceramic coat the wheels before installing, but the product I purchased isn't going to arrive until later this week. However, I had to test fit one today. Cleared the brake line no problem & looks great!

Wheels are on the car! The fronts came in at 43.8 lbs compared to 51.8 lbs for the old setup. With a total 26.8 lbs unsprung weight off the car I cannot weight to see how it drives. I only did a loop around my block because a big rain storm was headed my way.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. They almost look like Fiske; not sure how they compare price wise, but it is a nice look for our cars! Good job researching and selecting.

Thank you all for the compliments. The FM5 is one of my favorite wheels (for any car). However, there are so many of them out there and I wanted something a little different. I also wanted a concave spoke in the rear as apposed to a lip. Very happy with the end results.

I like that picture on the wall, that Mr. Newman?

Bob Leitzinger, David Long, and Butch Leitzinger. I drove a 1991 240sx fastback in college & have had that poster ever since. I need some LT5 artwork for the garage!

The first post has the details :) "17 x 9.5" in the front with 18 x11.5" in the rear. Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires will be mounted. OE size in the front and 335/30R18 in the rear".

So? How did the car feel with all of that unstrung weight removed?

It would look better if you ran the Michelin PS2'S. The 335's on the rear really fill out the wheel wells and look better than the 315's in my opinion. Those wheels do look nice on your car. I imagine their a bit lighter than the A-molds.

The combination of the weight savings & better tires made a noticeable difference in handling and ride quality.

Thank You. I was considering the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S when I was thinking about doing 18" all around or an 18/19" setup. Unfortunately, the widest 18" was only a 295 and I thought a 19" wheel would look too big. I'm very happy with the Continentals.

I bet it would. The one thing I'm not crazy about the ZR1 is the huge amount of mass in every corner. You can just feel all of that weight moving around.

I've always wondered what the base Vette with the 15 inch wheels would have felt like. It certainly would not have been the fastest around a corner, but it might have felt the lightest on its feet, and the most fun.
