Will be interesting to see what the 27,5 mile car will bring at Mechum on may 21. I posted in here a while back. Red 90 with all the plastic still on the interior etc. Just had a full service with new injectors etc.

Marty,
I have always felt that if a subsequent generation of Corvette ended up w a DOHC motor, it would finally bring well deserved attention to the C4 ZR-1.
Perhaps we are starting to see that now with the potential introduction of a DOHC FPC V8 in a Z series Corvette. And so the C4Z stands as the grandad of this new generation finally bestowing some historic provenance to our cars.

That's because the Polo greens are the best

All joking aside, I see this as good news for ZR-1s....granted a 400 mile trailer Queen isn't a everyday thing. But it seems prices are going up and that the C4 in general is getting much more love nowdays.

Did anyone see this video of this guy who just bought a 1994 Z, for $14,000? It has over 100,000 miles on it, but this guy got an absolute STEAL...

That '90 is super clean and deserved to sell for that amount.

These cars are starting to get expensive.

Can't say I was unhappy to see that result.

Be interesting to see how long this market in general, not just for ZR-1s, will stay hot. Is this just a reflection of how boring the modern car market is?

It goes in phases, the insane prices people are paying for cars right now will start to drop at some point but the increase in interest in C4s in general I only see getting stronger.

There is a whole industry built around classic cars that just didn't exist a decade ago. It's truly wild to watch.

My first car was a 1978 Trans Am, and as I always regretted selling it, I've had my eye on them and their pricing forever. A really nice Trans Am, up until a few years ago, was a $15,000 car. Now? Four times that.

There has to be lots of money kicking around to keep that market rolling.

Went to a Cars and Coffee thus weekend at Ford dealership my neighbor GMs for.
My ZR was the only C4 there. It was fun doing a slow roll thru the lines of cars, and hearing some people saying, ?Oh that?s a ZR-1, that?s why it sounds that good.? And I had the NPP valves closed on my exhaust.

I find it interesting that this low mileage ZR-1 sold on BaT for $73K while the equally low mileage (111 miles) 1996 Grand Sport Convertible with the rarer and presumably more valuable red interior only sold for $73.7K - roughly the same price as the ZR-1. I wonder if we are arriving at a tipping point where the new generation of buyers is looking for the best in C4 performance rather than a snazzy paint job.

It also took a while for the C3 L88s to catch up to the 78 Pace Cars as well, but look at where things are now. Quoted from a 1978 book titled, "Corvette - An American Classic" when discussing Corvette values, "..a '68 with the L-88 engine can be worth $10,000 or more". Later in the book there are references to people attempting to sell Pace Cars as high as $30K. Pace Cars haven't gone very far in 40 years while L-88s are half million dollar cars.

I am starting to feel better about putting $35,000 in my 1990 with 369 miles back in 2019.

So, after 30+ years of storage, maintenance, and ignoring the purpose of car, which is to drive it?you get your sticker price back.
Not a very good deal in my book.

You can't put a price on the viewing pleasure he got by looking at it in his garage.
