My search for a ZR1 continues, and I have found one that looks and sounds great from the sellers description. The problem is that I live in Chicago which is a 7 hour drive to the st.paul area. The car is located at Village Chevrolet in Wayzata, MN. If anyone is from this area and is knowledgable on the ZR1/LT5, I would greatly appreciate it if you could go to the dealership and inspect/drive the car for me. I just want to see if the car matches the owners' description. If anyone would be willing to do this huge favor for me, I'd pay whatever fee you'd feel is reasonable for it. Here's the car:

It wouldn't take very long, all you'd need to do is visually inspect the interior/exterior, inspect the engine, and take it for a quick spin to make sure everything is right. And again, it's at a dealership so you can just show up whenever is convenient for you. If anyone is interested in helping me out, just pm me or call me at 847-912-3062. You'd be doing me a huge favor so thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to do this for me!

Sorry I missed seeing this earlier. I pass by Village Chev everyday going to and from work. And I actually was there picking up some parts Wednesday after work. Now I'm going to have to drive by for sure...!!!

-update-
OMGosh...!!! Just clicked on the link. I drove right past the car and didn't get a good enough look to see that it is a Z...!!! The 'Auto Center Bargin Lot' is just abit west of the main dealership and is usually where they off load the high mileage vehicles they take in on trades. With that low mileage I don't know why they don't have it on the showroom floor back at the main building!

May have to stopover tomorrow with "The Beast" and get a 'kissing cousin" picture!

Stopped by the lot just before sunset tonight on the way home from dropping a friend off at the airport. The Z is still sitting there looking awfully lonely and out of place. There's a placard hanging from the rearwiew mirror reading "Was $25,995 - Now $23,995

The exterior looks to be in very nice shape. To the touch the rear tires seem to have quite a bit less tread than the front tires. :icon_scra

Looking through the windows the interior looks to be in very nice shape. The seats don't appear to have any significant wear.

And the VIN does end in 177.

I don't know what all Bob found out about the car but it looks pretty nice to me.

I see that the bidding is up to $17,000 and the reserve has not be met. Greg, have you been bidding???? Just curious.........

Hey guys, sorry it took so long for the update.

Well, here's the story so far. Bob was kind enough to go out and look at the car for me and also took it for a test drive. Basically Bob said the car looked great on the outside and inside and drove well. He didn't notice any leaks, said the car ran great and shifted well. The only negatives were that the rear tires need to be replaced, the passenger side seat does not go forward or backward, there is no pizza box/owners kit included, and there is no glass top with the car. Other than that the car checked out great.

With this information in mind, if I can get the car for the right price, I will buy it. The mileage is right, and it seems like the car is in great condition. However, if I'm going to pay 23k for a Z, I want the owners kit to be included, as well as the glass top, and possibly some service history. If we can work out a price closer to 20k, I'd definitely buy it.

Bob, I haven't bid yet, but I plan doing so before the auction ends. We'll see what his reserve is set at.

Ok - I've been on the road since Tuesday, the 8th. Bidding on the eBay auction ended on Wednesday, the 9th, topping out at $18,100 and the reserve was not met. Driving by the lot today I did not see the car near the front. So what happened?

Hey Greg,

Did you end up being the new care-taker? Just curious.
