solid motor mounts?

I tried it in my 73 Challenger w/ 340 back in 1976. It was simply unbearable. Took them out in one week.

I am hoping an LT5 might run slightly smoother than a 1973 340...

Did you have a solid trans mount too?

The stock mounts are a pretty decent design for the street. They do a good job of isolating engine generated noise and vibration from traveling to the chassis and passenger compartment and have a safety strap to keep the engine in place in case the rubber isolation material fails. Good idea to replace with new mounts if you are uncertain about the age or condition of your existing mounts.
Even with the 427 I've never had a problem shifting using the stock mounts.

I believe motor mount only. I got tired of ripping up motor mount periodically and tried solid aluminum mount. I thought my teeth would fall out while sitting at stop lights.
LT5 may be smoother but not that smooth. :)

I went with the Prothane Billet Aluminum mounts on mine... no vibration, no difference in feel from stock mounts. I am happy.
