I can?t be the only one that has a shrine for the ?Legend? and ?King of the Hill?? Or willing to admit it anyway.......

Here is something I came across yesterday and bought for my garage wall just in case someone else is interested. The things I do when I?m bored and can?t work on my car. 🤪[emoji38]

Since I decided I wanted to live in Japan I had to give up having a nice, big garage and workshop like in the US. I don?t even have room for this wall art, but I?ll find a way and make room. [emoji38]

Nice find.
Great looking garage too. Good job making the best out of a small space.

What floor tiles are those anyway? I was looking at doing something nice with mine, but both snow and size (it's 30x40) effect the decision. The ones you have look like they wouldn't turn Into a skating rink if I walked in them with snowy boots.

Thanks for your thoughts Erik! Yeah, unless we decide to move to the country land is premium there so I?m lucky to even have a garage; most people where I live don?t have the space to build one.

The flooring is RaceDeck and your might want the other style with drainage. I love it and put on the rubber cushion under the tiles too. As a matter of fact, our Mom? of the ZR-1 Net way back when, Dave Bright sells RaceDeck and who I ordered from and will take good care of you if you?re interested: zr1net@comcast.net.

You can use the website to tailor your plan to your size. Wow! What I wouldn?t give to have a dream car garage your size. [emoji847]

Thanks for the info.
The downside of the big garage, is that I need 1200 square feet of floor tiles to cover it, and that adds up pretty fast.

I haven't made the best use of my garage yet, and I definitely need to get the heating situation sorted out. It has a fully ducted oil furnace built in, but because of the environmental laws, a previous owner removed the tank rather then take the potential liability of leaving it in place. Yes, the law says you remain liable for any environmental damage, even if you have sold the house. Fixing up the oil system would be pretty easy, but then there are the environmental Regs to deal with. One recommendation I had is to get a heat pump, which would work ok too. Plus give me AC in the summer. Decisions!

You?re welcome. Nice really Z and nice garage; I?m sure it will be awesome when you get done. You?re right about that; I could only afford RaceDeck since I only have a one car garage. You have more important issues to resolve and environmental are the hardest to deal with. Last year my wife had a dehumidifier installed for me and lucky my garage is small so about $10 only month to run 24/7. The AC and heat not so cheap to run so only when I need to. Thanks for sharing!! 🤙🏼

Nice floor Craig, I have a similar color combo. Hint, do not spill oil on your racedeck floor. It gets under the tiles and will migrate up the joints forever.

Ya need some wall art! 😀
Did you consider commercial grade indoor/outdoor carpet?
Use rubber mat runner on top of it for where you usually drive in and out.
Much warmer to lay on when working under the car, that is if ya don't have a lift.
Non-car people freak out when they see a carpeted garage...

Eric,

I had a similar situation with my back garage. I wanted to do something with the floor. I hated the dusting from the raw concrete surfaces.

I did my research and decided to have a professional company apply an epoxy coating.

I hired a Chicago area company that does industrial floor coatings at places like White Sox Park and other places.

I had them do both of my garages. They filled every imperfection and crack. I have yet to find a flaw in their application. The garage floors turned out perfect.

Coating has a ten year warranty and has been in place nearly three years. It still looks like new. It is impervious to all automotive chemicals.

My front garage houses my daily drivers and in our lovely Illinois winters we get a lot of salt and road slop on the floor.

Once a week in winter (when we have snow) I shovel snow onto the floor and sweep it out like sweeping compound. Cleans the epoxy floor perfectly.

The coatings were not cheap, but neither are high quality garage tiles.

To protect the investment, I always use carpet squares under my floorjacks snd stands when I do car work.

In the back garage, I also use carpet squares under the tires of the cars that spend most of their time parked.

I have attached some before and after pictures if the back garage floor

I let my wife pick out the color. It was an easier sell that way.145621456314565

Thanks for the tip Steve. I do have a large tray with absorbent pad in it just in case, but so far no leak or spill onto the floor. I did figure out how to pop up and get under to remove or replace tiles, but I have to agree more for a show garage than a utility workshop floor in all practical sense. It seems to do okay rolling around the floor jack, but I use QuickJack to lift. I think I?m bound to spill oil one day. I have spilled coolant before but most stayed on the surface. 🤙🏼

That?s a nice option there. I did the DIY Rustoleum Epoxy Shield when one of my homes was brand new. It wasn?t bad, but no way to compare with the good, commercial, and professional way you did it. Awesome! Smart guy; my wife had this garage built for me since I can?t speak the language and made it her idea to plan it all. [emoji2]🤙🏼

No, but you?re right that it could have been. They poured concrete slab and then framed/built the structure. I?ll insulate the walls later. My last deployment to the Middle East I lived in a container this sized stacked up in a warehouse so I know what you mean. [emoji847]🤙🏼14566

Love the roll up door and decor of your garage.

I ran out of wall space in mine after hanging 5 original BFG banners. I have a pile of posters waiting to be framed once the new place is built along with a couple of awards of my parents that are special to me including a High Speed Event FTD NCCC convention award signed by Zora, the plaque from the first museum delivered FRC/Z06 back in 99' ( i've got the car now too), and a few more. They will go up in my office for now.

That?s nice garage space to be able to fit all those BFG banners! [emoji33] I hear you and have so much stuff, but no where to put them. That?s some awesome collectibles you have there. I?m in the process of converting my Z driver?s seat into an office chair. 🤙🏼
