I was thinking of this the other day, perhaps we should start a poll of who has gotten or is on the list for a vaccine shot and who has already had Covid-19. Post up if you have any reservations of a trip or not. That might give the Board an idea of the members thoughts.
I had Covid-19 during Thanksgiving and only knew I had it due to loss of taste and smell for 9 days. Other than that, was a non-event. My wife had a worse time, felt like crap with flu like symptoms for a week and it took another 10 days for her to feel 100%. Bottom line, I am in for BG.....running low on my special Bourbons purchased last time and looking forward to replenishing my special stock!

Last year the Museum nixed the Gathering. So, I imagine the Board guys will be updating us as soon as they get an answer.

I know that as with all big events, the event chairman has many "strings" to be tied up before an event like that. So, he'll no doubt be hounding them for details so a block of hotel rooms and the track schedule and other off site activities e.g., cruises among the twisty roads in the KY countryside can be arranged!

Young1 and Precast1 in FL are ready to go. Not old enough for vaccine shots but immune enough not to have had it, yet. But we in FL have not endured the restrictions others states have had.

Evening all,

The ZR-1 Net Registry Board is meeting February 9 at which time the 2021 Gathering will be a key agenda item. We are in regular contact with the NCM and NCM Motorsport Park. We have our mid-May slot protected with NCM and the track, but there are a lot of moving parts that we will assess as a board on February 9. We are aiming to be in a position to provide more detailed information to members shortly after the February board meeting.

Kudos to American Airlines!
Had to cancel my flite to BG last year due to the event being canceled due to Covid.
Got whacked for the $200 cancellation fee and had a credit for the balance of the ticket cost. Grudgingly took it in stride... The credit was about to run out in the very near future, and not planning on using it anytime soon, I called A/A to see if they would extend it...Good news! Because my original flite fell within certain dates, the cancellation fee was waived and the drop dead date on the credit was extended till they end of 2021! Never expected that? Looks like I'll be flying to BG for the Gathering instead of driving should we be fortunate enough to have it this year.
I know, really should drive down in the Z, but don't have any plan to fly anywhere this year so I don't want to lose it again...

OBTW: The C8s just (a few seconds ago) came in 1&2 in class @ the Daytona 24!

Thank you for checking in, Steve. The Feb 9 board meeting had to be postponed to this Tuesday, Feb 16. The 2021 Gathering will be the prime agenda item for the Events segment. We expect to have a definitive way forward to share by mid week.

Thanks to all for your patience.

If our illustrious leader( spelt assh0le) will not make us stay for 3 days at a hotel for several hundred dollars a night we would like to attend. Hopefully there will be a Gathering this year, will it be still considered 30th anniversary celebration.

Why all the disrespect for the BOD and registry leadership about this?

Organizing events and trying to please everyone within a large group is not an easy task (and probably 10x harder during a pandemic). I appreciate anyone who donates their time and energy to support the registry, and I'm disappointed to see negative comments being posted here about these volunteers.

It's probably better to voice personal complaints about the price of hotels, planning shortfalls, or anything else privately to the BOD members, rather than air them publicly on the forum. It's not a good look for the group, and not really representative of the support I've experienced in my time as a member.

Scott

I think you are misreading comments regarding the idiot Canadian prime minister as comments about the BOD and registry leadership.

The prime minister just enacted rules saying anyone returning to Canada must spend three days locked in a hotel with all the other travellers.

I saw it too and thought.. how can the BOD force us to stay in a hotel.. then I figured out it was not the BOD.

My concern is, if they decide to do it, what will be there? it is difficult to plan an event like this in a normal year in a normal timeframe.. but this would like 3 months..

sometimes people you reach out to don't respond for 3 months.

I wish the BOD luck on their decision and getting it organized in a short amount of time if they do proceed

I don't worry much about covid driving so maybe another mountain run and a modified driving gathering would work if museum closes.

Can I throw out a back up plan....if the Corvette museum is a no go, they are having events at the Barber Motorsports Museum in Leeds, AL. In case you don't know it is a world class driving track, a world class museum FEATURING LOTUS cars including a never delivered 90 ZR-1 in as pulled off delivery truck condition. Mr. Barber LOVES Lotus, they have meeting rooms, observation rooms for the track and on track driving (there's logistics to that, would likely need to be done in conjunction with a track rental group to reduce cost).

Thoughts about MR8?

There WILL be a MR8* (don't we always have to use an asterisk when a plan goes awry?). The big question will be when.

Since we've traditionally scheduled the Mountain Run to coincide with the C4 Gathering at the NCM, I've been waiting for the outcome of the Registry's meeting. If the Board determines to move forward with the Gathering this spring I will lock the dates, block rooms, and make an official announcement. If the Gathering is postponed until later I will look at other scheduling options that would make for a fun, enjoyable, and SAFE Mountain Run.

I've never been there but the pictures are great of this very large and impressive museum. Wayne Carini did an episode of Chasing Classic Cars on the Barber Museum and track; took an old Indian motorcycle there to run. Had George Barber take him on a few laps of the track--in a Honda Odyssey! If he loves Lotus, he should certainly love a gathering of C4 ZR-1s --Bob

Hey Bob,

Yes, is it an amazing place and the motorcycle collection is beyond belief. I don?t remember much else around the area other than a huge Bass Pro Shop and Outlet Mall. It is the most memorable museum I?ve ever been to, but I have not been to many like Petersen Automotive etc. This would be nice to consider one day though.

Just a thought.

It might prove difficult doing anything yet in the spring.

By summer however, the warm weather combined with the expected growth of vaccinations might better support an event.
Maybe normalcy will be closer at hand.

Perhaps a more intensive Registry presence at Corvettes at Carlisle.

There is plenty of planning time, always a big member turnout, many ZR-1 VIP's usually in attendance, etc. etc.

Again, just a thought.

I disagree with no gathering, how long are we to, hide at home ?? I refuse, life is short, we'll do it next year. Well, next year might not come. I was really looking forward to Bowling Green.
Is the Museum open ?? Is it because, alot of our members are older ? Because i'm older than dirt. Fought cancer, won,

(so far) I get it to a point, my wife's parents have barely left their house since, last March. I'm putting it in God's hands, i say, if you are scared of the virus, stay at home.
If the Museum, is open for business, and will allow a Gathering, Let's go.

The Gatherings are some of my best memories. Our organisation does a outstanding job every time I've attended and no one wants to have the Gathering more than them. Our organisation the ZR-1 Net Registry does hold a certain liability because of the current climate in the world regardless of our opinions. I would hate to see our organisation come under any legal scrutiny from the standpoint of covid-19 because of some unsavoury claims after the fact. It would have a direct effect on future Gatherings involving more hurdles for all of us. Optimistically we will have our arms around this whole thing more and more as time goes on. Until then I will be gathering and social distanceing from behind the wheel of my ZR-1 because it's not hard to put 6 feet in between the cars Behind me.

I plan to visit the NCM sometime between now and the end of April ( for the first time) to see the Ed Roth exhibit before it closes.

The decision to not have a ZR-1 gathering just made it easier for me to commit to towing the car from Colorado to PA for Carlisle ( another first for me) as I doubt I would have done both in one year.

With this in mind, Carlisle should be HUGE this year! I look forward to bringing the new car there and meeting like minded covid- neutral car lovers.

With 500,000 + Lives lost here in the US in just one year today, I will admit to being somewhat frightened.
Not hiding in the basement or wearing 10 masks at a time, but certainly avoiding what I would phrase as "risky behavior", which last year included touching your own eye.
Things are improving rapidly, so another few months of cautious behavior certainly cannot hurt.
I am pleased and relieved that we have gone a year without seemingly losing any of our members to that destructive virus whose origin surely does not seem completely accidental.
Like all of you, looking forward to getting back to all that once was so normal, that now is so missed.
Stay well boys and girls!

Of the 500,000 very few died from COVID 19, but rather heart conditions pneumonia and other compromising conditions. Death from flue in the past was always reported, not from flue but rather heart, pneumonia, lung disease etc. Reporting this number as the press is doing is done to spread fear as it has so successfully done.

I?m not suggesting we shouldn?t be careful, especially around the elderly, nursing homes etc. But I have no doubt, as statistics prove, very few of these deaths were from COVID. No one knows how many of the 500,000 would be dead at this point if COVID did not exist. My uncle at 85 got a severe nose bleed, was hospitalized and put in the COVID section of the hospital. He was tested for COVID after being admitted and was negative. He died 5 days later and became a COVID statistic. Go figure $$$$$

Things are not always as the press make things appear.

After being forced to shut down normal patient care for 7 weeks last April-May. I went back to 5 days a week for the rest of the year to catch up with periodic cleanings and restorations in my private dental office.

Here are some FACT'S to consider:

My team of 6 has seen 1,000's of patients come through our 1400 sq ft office in the past 10 months. I work 18" from the source of what "science" has told us Covid 19 spreads from WHILE CREATING AERSOLS FROM THAT VERY SOURCE. We have always practiced universal precautions including sterilizing ops and instruments to kill TB spored ( the toughest thing to kill), not a single staff member has contracted Covid 19 wearing nothing more than a basic surgical mask, eye protection and latex free gloves.

I've also been on a plane 10 times in the last year. still no covid. Let that sink in....

What I gather from all this:

I'm not saying the covid virus isnt real, Its just not EBOLA. The goverment and the main stream media sure treat it as such. Everyone should ask themselves why??

At least for now, Its still a FREE country . You "should" be FREE to go out and about if you choose, or you are FREE to stay home if you suffer from pre-existing conditions or dont want to "take the risk".

We didnt hear about a massive Covid outbreak after Alabama fans stormed the streets to celebrate yet another national championship did we??? I doubt you will once states like texas open back up for buisness, unless the media decides to continue with their spin.
