Welcome, Firebird dude.
Pictures of your new toy are needed, of course.
What Firebird do you have? I still miss my 1978 WS6/W72 Trans Am.

I have a 1984 Trans Am L69 H.O. 5-speed with the WS6 suspension, brakes, and steering. It is all original and has t-tops. Its colors are white and gold. I also still have my 1995 Firebird that I had a recent accident in but it's not in very good shape right now. I may end up selling my '95. The ZR-1 was purchased to take its place initially...I will post some photos soon!!

I'm still a big third gen TA fan. I was looking at late production GTAs this year too before pulling the trigger on the ZR-1. Still have a soft spot in my heart for those beasts.
The L69 was a sweet little engine. The third gen really came to life when they added that.
Pics are needed!

I was deep into the 70-73 birds. Build some fast ones. One was a genuine 74 455 SD white with the blue screemin chicken. Didn't like it much because it was an auto.
had a stock 71 455 ho that was a honey and my frankenbird
a 71 TA with an LS6 chevy pumping out 600 with a joe liberty modified hemi pro shifted 4 speed and 4.88 12 bolt rear.
that car was more fun than a bag of puppies and would yank the front end with slicks Cracked the windshield on a hard 2nd gear shift. 2.67 low + 4.88 and big slicks worked pretty well!!!

Wazoo is the name of our little group who live in the MD, VA, DC, PA and surrounding Mid-Atlantic area. Stands for the Washington Area ZR-1 Owners Association. We are not a club, no dues to pay or anything like that, just a bunch of great guys who are also Registry members who get together for maintenance days at Jim Voter's place in Westminster, MD. Whomever's car we work on the most that day has to buy the pizza!

I thought we had extended Wazoo territory to include New Brunswick.

The Chief of the Wazoo group, Jim Voter has a open door policy and we have visitors drop in from all parts of North America. Just hoping for things to get back to normal so we can get back together again soon. Looking forward to meeting you Erik.

Charlie/WAZOO,
It might sound corny for me to say, but WAZOO is one of the reasons why I am still with the ZR-1 community after all these years. Some years ago I was going to get rid of my Z and move on to muscle cars. But I remembered the friends made from WAZOO and how I was treated by you folks. When I had to go the Pentagon for work and WAZOO members picked me up at my hotel and took me over to a member?s home with a gathering of at least 10 Zs and all the good brothers there for pizza and beer. The hospitality was more than the Aloha State of Hawaii, and more than anyone could ever imagine. You guys have a special thing there for all to envy. Totally solid, sincerely good folks. The friendships extends beyond when I came to the area for the GSA conference and met with Yun, then in Hawaii when Rich met me at Aloha Tower for a meal and beer. David driving from MD to CA to deliver a Z windshield to me a few days before my pack out of household goods to Japan. Phil giving me some parts, and all of the support from the group is short of incredible. WAZOO ROCKS! But other members and groups are no different from the West Coast to FBI, and around the rest of the country there are awesome brothers because of this car. This is what makes this car more special than any other. Show me relationships like with any other car. Mahalo WAZOO!

Agree with you 100% Craig, if it were not for the ZR-1 Registry group and all the lifelong friends I made from this over the years, likely would not still have a ZR-1. When I drove my car to Chicago for Marc to do some of his magic Paul and some of the FBI group organized a pizza and beer night for me. Great to see the brotherhood all over the country. When Jim was driving cross country and had an issue, Demps came to the rescue with taking parts off his Z and putting them on Jim's so he could continue his trip. Many, many stories like this....it is a brotherhood and the best part of owning this fantastic vehicle.

I hear you Charlie! I believe this car has some of the most dedicated, obsessed, innovative, and good folks all over the world that will help any brother in need. I know many that will give the shirt off their back to help someone. As you said, a lot of stories from all over the country. I could even share some about Japan with the group over there too. The C4 Z is more special that we all realize.

The brotherhood of the beast is not your typical gang of car guys or corvette owners. WAZOO is a "club within a club" dedicated to helping keep the ZR-1 viable with hands one work for just the price of a few brewskis. When you see how many folks get just plain ripped off and the cars botched by hamfisted folks that don't know anything, the desire to dive in and DIY gets stronger. The ZR-1 LT5 has the misnomer of being so hard to work on. BAHHH WAZOO indeed showed me that it's not the case and I went from being afraid to touch the car to ripping out and building engines.
Jim is a very gracious host, and opens his garage and shares expertise and tools with all that care to come.
Thanks Jim!!!! As another of the "ex presidents" WAZOO continues to be a highlight and prime example of our fav saying
"it's the people, not the cars" And as you will learn hanging with WAZOO, the ZR-1 guys are tight and dedicated to preservation of a very special vette.
I have other vettes that are more powerful and faster, but you don't find the "peeps" in those clubs like you do with the ZR-1
Welcome!! (I'll share some of my old 70-74 TA pics, right before I did vettes I was into early 2ndf gen TAs) That was IMHO John Delorean's best work. the old TA is quite the ground pounder
