The following was removed from the registry Facebook site for "violating community standards"
Our Corvette95 wrote... "see the other comments it was a one year only hanger. I've got a 91+ hanger coming... no transmission dropping on me!!
Ho! Ho! Ho!"
Can you guess why the Facebook algorithm removed it?

Dont have an account, never will.... To me its something I've lived without my whole life and cant see a reason I'll need going forward. Screw big tech... theyve proven what side of history they choose to be on.

Started an account when Facebook stared up. Lasted less than a week with all the email I stated to receive about others people's personal lives. Waste is time and my life.
Only regret is I understand there is a Facebook ZR-1 group.

I am curious about that too. I have detached from there many years ago. way too invasive...
I am guessing that "hanger" is now on the bad list??

It is true, I was going to post about it but didn't... I didn't know anyone else could see it..... I even had to appeal the decision TWICE to get it back. I don't use FB much at all. Mainly to keep up with a few of my private groups. I haven't now nor will I post anything private period. This is what I got...

I posted an X-pipe for sale a few years ago on Facebook and it was flagged and taken down as being Drug paraphernalia, LOL

Maybe the Ho Ho Ho part? I?m on FB but consider it to be an extremely dangerous site. I?d support breaking it up.

I'm right behind you Erik. Private groups, and hand full of friends only. That and I no longer give them content. It's good to see the registry on there from an awareness standpoint, but the TRUE wealth of knowledge rests here in the forum. You may have to wait a day or so for someone to get back to you, but there is ALWAYS someone willing to help out that has "been there, done that".
As a side note, My wife just turned off the "off of Facebook" search data collection feature. It came across with the most recent software upgrade.
It LITERALLY had every web search I have done. Even with the anti-google "duck duck go" search engine. Its all in the fine print...
Now where's my old flip phone?!?!? :)

I deleted my FB and Twitter accounts a couple of weeks ago. Felt very refreshing!
Also stopped using Google. DuckDuckGo is as good a search engine. Stopped using Chrome too. Using Dissenter which is based on the open source Chrome engine, but has all the Google extensions removed. Migration from Chrome couldn't have been any easier.

Thats interesting.
How does the "off of Facebook" thing work? I know that Facebook is invasive as hell with searches.
Funnily enough, I was actually looking at older (10 wish years?) Razr's and Nokia 8801's. Not for all the time use, but there are times when I'd like to just not be connected to the inter web.

I strictly use FB for the 49 Automotive Groups that I have in operation....and nothing else....also started to put many of my Groups on MeWe....so now there is another platform to chose from....all of the content in my Groups are purely Automotive....with no other topics allowed for discussion....:):)

I smelled a RAT when reading their "rules of engagement" (aka agreement contract), and avoided them. As 32valve Z puts it: Never had it, never will! (And wife Ami dropped her account about a year ago.)

I haven't been on since Xmas and haven't had the inch since. The only thing I think would miss would be the car club news that I'm in and family / friends news. And by news I mean Bdays, deaths, births, etc.....I keep to myself as it is and don't feel the need to express to the world what I just ate, or how I'm feeling. Almost being 50, it's sad to see how interaction with people is now. But I guess it's the sign of the times and tech. It's got too political on these sites as well, of which I'm thankful to this site for keeping that off here. I think our nation is sadly divided and those sites / apps do nothing to help that situation, by censoring this persons speech and not this persons.....That to me is scary.
Anywho, off my soapbox.

It's amazing they track absolutely anything you do online both in and out of Facebook. Interesting to note is that this "off Facebook activity" feature is only accessible (to turn off) when you access Facebook via a web browser. If you go in via the app (as I mostly do on my iPad) it doesn't even show up. I've turned it off now. Thx for the heads up.

Actually it?s a educated choice John. Never comfortable with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any other service due to the reasons pointed out.
With the exception of these forums and work networks like LinkedIn my digital footprint is exceptionally small on purpose.
It will stay that way. Nobody has business in my business.

I recently quit Facebook due to the more I learned about privacy issue violations and how much political influence or otherwise that I do not need to see.
I found articles like these to wake me up:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2018/11/24/opinion/sunday/facebook-immoral.amp.html
https://www.newenglrev.com/faculty-blog/on-the-moral-duty-to-leave-facebook
I find myself happier with more time not seeing all the garbage on there. I don?t even miss it now.

These sites are becoming the same as the old CB radio craze. We used our CB radios, much like cell phones today.
I was always in touch with my Mom and friends on our CB Base Station. A Royce 640, with a D-104 silver plated microphone.
Much better times than today. We probably would be cancelled by society for our Native American handles.
I still have the Royce, a small antenna, the D-104, and a single side band mobile unit just in case.
Oh, to be able to hear my Mom's voice come crackling over the squelched out speaker again...
"How about you Hiawatha, this is the Shoshone Indian, are you out there?"
