hello all.
long time no visit no post, found this on fb and thought I would share. I would be tempted but im just down here scouting homes for a relocation so obviously not the best timing. im of 2 minds about it as I have seen some nice drivers for twice the price relatively recently. I would hate to see it get cut up, but it might be cost prohibitive to save?
trying to attach a photo but if not here are the details:

Definitely a good deal but as you all know things can add up quick to many unknowns for me. I have a walk around video for anyone that is interested that the guy who is selling the car sent me.

he's been posting and pulling the ad for about a week now. I first saw it maybe 9 days ago for 11,900 I want to say. the ad also seems to be getting more and more "upset". I think he figured it would be a quick and easy payday but even the guys who are uninformed about these cars know enough to walk away when the information isn't there to support the purchase. I have seen running and driving cars for 16-18, 20-22 all day long. at that point it might not be worth the risk as I can easily see spending 10k to get it driving safely. it would make for a cool "as is" patina car.

I bought a car with a similar backstory. Car was wrecked, original owner died, some how made it from arizona to washington, 29k original miles, ragged out interior, in a state of partial disassembly/shoddy repair. Had been sitting in a school auto body shop for nearly a decade. Did run and drive. I bought it from across the country not seeing it in person. Paid 6500 shipped from Washington to Pennsylvania.
For cars like these, assume there is way more wrong than there appears to be. I basically got a decent low mileage drivetrain, NOS front and rear bumper covers, NOS wheels, a shoddily installed NOS rear surround. Was a good deal for parts.
From the pictures and info you would have thought the car I bought was a steal. It was sold as a repairable car with a clean title, but would have taken more than the cost of a nice clean high mileage driver to restore.

probably the smart move in my opinion, he will probably get more than the 8k he was asking on Facebook and won't have to deal with the in-person sale as much

Yes I can but need to buy it for 5-6K. It will take 4-5K in parts to get it running and reliable. I spent 4K on parts on the one I did this year and it did not need injectors or brakes. Running with crappy paint worth 12k tops.

I've bought a couple basket cases. It adds up quick and that's assuming there are no surprises. There are also now some interior parts that are getting extremely hard to find especially in decent condition.
I agree that this is a 5-6k car unless you wanted a labor of love.
That being said people on ebay don't always use logic. I bid on a LT5 short block a couple weeks ago that ended up going for 910 dollars. Supposedly had new bearings pistons and rings (but not liners?). With no explanation as to why those parts needed replaced. I thought it was probably worth 600ish. Someone took a lot of risk at 910.
I'll be curious to see what this car goes for.

That sure looks like a car that has spent some time under water? It would be nice to know the full story from the original "One Owner".
